@MattyW it’s been too long since I had them installed on the distribution board to remember but they certainly provide peace of mind and I didn’t have the sparky remove them so must have been okay.

One thing I’ve not figured out is that my system somehow sounds quieter with it in place though…. That said, turned it up to its usual sweet spot and I’ve never before heard imaging and layering like this. Just spectacular. Can’t quite explain it. Yet it sounds better than ever before also.

I would suggest the reason it sounds quieter  with imaging and layering is your no longer getting amplified hum and noise smothering the pure sound...👍

Yes, the thought had crossed my mind. It’s beneficial as I can turn it up a bit more without upsetting my wife. No matter how good extreme low level listening is there’s really no substitute for a little more volume when it comes to imaging and layering. Even so I’m talking levels where you can talk without raising your voice and easily be heard over the music. :D

Now that the Thor is in place, I may source a quality power board with copper sockets and see if there's any improvement with my Musical Paradise MP-T1 balanced isolation transformer removed. I just figure if it's no longer required, then less is more when it comes to sound. I'll likely pull the trigger on a nice power board and find out  :)

That would be ideal, Matt ... but I wonder if there are any such beasts around?  :(

That would indeed be an interesting experiment!  I guess I lean towards thinking that the "balanced isolation" part does something which the Thor DRM95 doesn't do.

This little beastie looks interesting https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32995037865.html

Yes the BIT does do something the DRM95 doesn't..... However I'm curious to see if its even necessary at this stage. Basically would higher quality parts in a basic power board give better results? Curiousity generally wins out in the end so I'll have to find out  ;)

I did try without my balanced isolation transformer and without that I still get hum so it seems that the combination of FRM95/20 and BIT does wonders and is better than either on their own  :)

Did you end up with a DRM95/20 also @kelossus ?

How did you go with your new silver wired powerboard ?
have you had a chance to compare it with anything similar like an isotek ?

The board hums. I suspect polarity is reversed. One of those gambles which didn’t pay off

What got my interest is that In the reviews at that site, someone compares it favourably to the bada units which are at the same price point.

you’ve got other filtering units so this won’t be as useful for you.
