For sale is my pair of Quad Platinum mono blocks in superb condition with the original double boxes, so can ship Australia wide at buyers expense. We have recently downsized and I no longer have a dedicated listening space, so unfortunately these beauties have to go.

My own experience:

I have found them to be on the warmish side of neutral with superb tone and transient attack. Very detailed but without screaming for your attention, they are never clinical or fatiguing. They throw a wide and deep soundstage stretching well past the side boundaries of the room with a solid and well defined center image and good depth. Bass performance, however, is the star of the show here and was simply spectacular! Rhythmical and textured with real control and massive extension.

These are incredibly capable and well rounded amplifiers but they may not suit if your system/room already presents as bass heavy. Before these amps my system sounded amazing with female vocals, classical, singer/songwriter stuff but lacked the excitement and drive for more modern pop/rock/electronica, for me they made it fun to listen to rock and EDM again and I've been absolutely satisfied with them for the last 5 years. If it wasn't for the lack of space in our new home I wouldn't be selling them.

If your system already has good extension but lacks control, or sounds overly clinical, these may help. If you have a balanced/neutral or bright system, and you are looking for a little extra oomph and drive, then these are probably exactly what you are looking for! I could only find one review of the mono block amps (linked at the end of this ad) but there are plenty for the stereo version. As is typical with MB's the power, grip, control, imaging and separation are better than the stereo version but retain their overall character.

180w per channel into 8 ohms, doubling into 4 ohms, these will drive pretty much anything with authority, grip and extreme bass extension, but no bloat. Changing from the Simaudio Moon 340i in theatre bypass mode to the Quads almost felt like adding a good subwoofer in terms of additional bass extension.

We are rennovating at the moment and my entire system is packed away so I can't demo them at my place. However, if you are seriously interested and live in Perth, I might be convinced to bring them to you to try with your speakers for an hour or two.

I’m also open to the idea of swapping for an integrated or slimline pre/power of similar value/quality with cash either way for the right product. Naim/Roksan/Exposure/Hegel/ Parasound/Primare PS Audio Stellar as some examples.

Happy to send anywhere in Australia at your expense.

Sorry about the quality of the photo's, these are from our old house, I will add more photos as I can.

Beautiful amps. speakers, set up and room.  Any reno I did would be lucky to get up to the space you are renovating .... But jealousy aside, good luck with the sale.

Thankyou, that's the old house! It was much bigger. I sold the speakers as well because I can't have them that far into the room in the new place.
