Guest Nay9 Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Selling a valve Preamp based on the circuit modified from convergent SL-1. http://eshop.diyclub.biz/product_info.php?...&products_id=63 This Preamp is complete, it uses the stepped attenuator, gold plated RCA jacks, 4-way source Input selector, toroidal power transformer and the medium metal chassis (Black) from this site below. http://www.diyfidelity.com.au/index.php Some of the modifications I've made to this Preamp are as follows:- Replaced the standard SCR caps with Auricaps and the standard coupling caps have been replaced by Mundorf M-Caps, have changed out all the valves on the preamp section to Electro-Harmonix tubes, no ring tube rings and sound damping pad on the top plate. Reason for the selling is, I'm buying a SS Preamp of the same make to match the IRD Monobloc poweramps I have, and the volume steps are to far apart on the Valve Preamp for late night listening The sound is smooth without lose of fine detail. The unit is around a month old with around 120 to 150 hour use. Cost to build this unit with the mods was around the $930 mark. Selling for $300 firm. Throwing in some spare parts:- 1x stepped attenuator (Value 100k) 2x JJ ECC82 Tubes, 1x Ei 6DJ8 EG Tube, 1x Electro-Harmonix ECC82 Tube. Email me if Interested neptune@bigpond.net.au
