He will be demonstrating their Keystone system, comprised of a pair of Keystone speakers, two Ochto amplifiers and the Cardia DSP. 3SB Audio have on offer two systems, the Keystone, as will be demonstrated, and the Bedrock, which is an additional pair of sub arrays that can be added on to the Keystone system for larger rooms and extended lower frequencies. The Keystone speakers have seven drivers, each driven by its own amplifier and each having a dedicated enclosure to contain their allocated frequencies. The tuned enclosures use felt, wool and acrylic padding dependent on the frequency range of the driver. which provide adequate coverage for most "average" sized listening rooms. The Ochto amplifiers have 8 x 250W Hypex amplifier modules to supply the individual drivers the frequency range as divided digitally by the Cardia DSP. No analogue crossovers are used. The Cardia DSP is the brains behind the system, comprising of the active crossovers, enough for not only the Keystone system but can cater for the 3SB Bedrock system of up to 30 drivers into two channels. Visitors to the recent Melbourne HiFi show would have experienced the 3SB Keystone system and seen the unique cabinets and driver arrangements that certainly caught my eye! For those who didn't get to the HiFi show this month's meeting will be an opportunity to see and hear something quite unique, like nothing I have seen before! I'm sure you will enjoy the 3SB presentation so bring a friend, spouse, sibling or offspring to enjoy the experience with you! David Polanske Program Co-ordinator.
