I can only speak for myself, but I for one get a kick out of seeing others’ collections.

A place to see fellow record collectors, archivists, or music enthusiasts, and how you store them in a domestically acceptable (or not so WAF acceptable) way.

I’ll kick off:

Here's part of mine.  All on welded square metal tube frame with white plastic coated wood "shelves",  screwed to the wall to prevent toppling.

Holds about 3000 LPs, all in mixed order - but all numbered and recorded in a  database and searchable by genre, band name, rating etc etc.  The ones sticking out indicate where I have removed a record to play it, so I can easily put it back.  There are also numbered tabs every 50 records to help locate stuff.

I like the system of storage. I tend to leave the record sticking out for easy returning as well.

Chrome plated and black tempered glass, those shelves would be very Art Deco.

Thanks,   I thought it would be enough, but sadly I have spilled the collection over to include two sets of Bunning metal shelves inside a double built-in wardrobe,   and that's not counting my 7" 45rpm collection, and 10" and 12" 78 rpm collection.  I am proud that I have culled the latter to two shelves only, and eliminated all my CDs, these days. Still my records fill the whole bedroom that I have taken over.

You can tell why wine and music go together so well! The more you drink the more you can store your records, perfect!

I switched from IKEA Kallax to Boon Max shelving a couple of years ago. Each shelf holds about 80 records and more cubes can be added.

My somewhat modest collection is spilling out onto the floor as I've run out of room on my repurposed food safe unit... I have some silky oak boards (40mm thick) that used to be our kitchen benchtops that I intend to make a new hifi unit & storage for my records... Still finalising the design at present as well as in final stages of shoulder surgery recovery but, hope to sort it soon...

All in a small room together with instruments & bass amp/cab so, a little space limited...

Solid silky oak shelves or hifi cabinet will look great 😎 Been trying to figure whether I can get some sufficiently wide pine to replace the Kaplan shelving…

All the best for the recovery too.

Kallax here. In alphabetical order. Bit of a shemozzle atm with Reno’s going on…again ..😳🤪DBE297D5-D236-4B03-8837-1DE4A61C0AC0.thumb.jpeg.0beb0bb4de04f07b250741e1489790c0.jpeg

A wall of diffusion - perfect!

Nothing gets in the way of organising like cubes which aren’t full enough to lean on their own. A creative solution there though.

Have you considered laminated boards from Bunnings?

We've used some for some shelving, they come in a variety of widths & thicknesses & prices are reasonable...

My current collection numbers about 2,000. Not sure what will happen once all the empty space is completely filled?

Custom made and designed stereo cabinet with drawers or CD's and LP's below made by my brother, Tassie oak and plywood. Had a massive cull last year, gave my son about 600 LP's to boost his collection and interest in music.

went for a wall art concept with the first album in each cube on display.

Looks great. Nice speakers too. How do the SGRs go with the vinyl?

The SGRs are great speakers and seem to go well with whatever you feed them! They pair superbly with an Allnic L3000 preamp.

afraid no WAF for me, so yes an understanding partner  - 20 cabinets which hold up to 400 albums each are in the back of the TV/lounge room for me with 13 of them made into a room of records sort of in strict alpha order - soundtracks, various and classical are lumped together.   I have 3 dividers per shelf about 2/3rd's record height so the max number of records grouped together is around 25.   This makes it easy to flip thru records.

I am lucky to have a music room and this is where all my recently bought and recently played live - til I move them back to the record storage - you can see that time is now with the number of records I have on the floor.

13 cabinets made into a room sort of

6 cabinets behind the lounge

music room to the left and behind the listening chairs.
