G'day SNArs, You may not have noticed, but I haven't posted for quite a few months now which is strange as i use to post a lot., some may say too much 😊

Well the reason is I'm a bit crook and have been having almost non stop tests - blood, Ct scans ànd bone marrow bi-ops. etc.

Started about April - May when i was getting too tired to enjoy a drink with neighbors out on the front verandah and people telling me i was losing a bit of weght and i was having horrible horrible night sweats .

Concerned i went to the doctors. He immediately sent me for scans and bloods. Results came back showing i had a massively ( their words)  enlarged spleen ànd a lympnode the needed to be looked at

Well i asked the doc what he thought it might be and what could have caused the problems, his face suggested  something not good and immediately sent a referral off to the the Adelaide hospital. More tests after test and they cleared me of any Cancers et, phew!

Had another full body scan with the injected dye on Thursday  ànd i wont  know the results until Wednesday ..

I have the proffesser at hospital stumped so far, so hopefully this Wednesday will give us some answers

Oh and because of the spleen being bad i have a low immune system and have developed the beast that is shingles  - bastard of a thing that is.

No SNA , beer or vinyl play since I got crook. And ive lost just over 16kg since May

And i have missed it all.

Sorry for the long post , just wanted to let a few old friends know im still around SNA

Guard against the non mask wearers while you are immune compromised, and I wish you the best results when they come back ❤️

I'm very sorry to hear that, Gary and hope things take a turn for the better.  Unfortunately, we're at an age where things can go wrong and often do and I can personally relate to your current issues.

Here's hoping you get a clear diagnosis and a good outcome soon.

It would be great for you to get back to  to get back into the things you enjoy ASAP.

Best wishes for you  grumpy.   Hopefully they sort it out and it’s nothing or a real easy fix.    You’re not the only one with issues.    If it’s any consolation I’ve been away too and had 3 operations in 2 mths.    The 1st was to fix the main issue however it didn’t and made it worst, I ended up in Emergency  twice in 24hrs, the 2nd I was referred to a vascular surgeon because the 1st operation damaged the main artery and opened a gap to a vein that usually pumps the blood in the other direction,  while in the meantime I was suffering from the effects from the 1st surgery, and the vascular surgeon told me he’s going to have words with the cardiologist.   Just out of surgery of the 2nd surgery,  I went to turned the phone on,  there was a dozen missed calls from the boss,  she then informed me she’s positive to COVID-19 so the hospital staff had to isolate me.   While she was positive for the seven days I was negative all that time, work that one out?   The boss took time off work to care for me and it turned out I was caring for her!    I finally went in to have corrective surgery on the 3rd attempt and ended up in ICU.   The cardiologist informed me that they stuffed up, something went wrong with the monitors and by the time they worked out what was wrong the probes they send into my ticker pierced through a low pressure wall, he said if that ended up in the high pressured wall they would have had to do open heart surgery on the spot!  Luckily that wasn’t the case!   I’m OK for now,  haven’t had an episode yet and required to go back for more scans and monitoring in December!   Is not fun as you get older,  if you think there’s something wrong, have it checked out, and if they tell you otherwise get another opinion.

I've noticed that you haven't been posting Grumpy and thought it may have been because of the difficulties you had using the site.

Fingers crossed it all works out OK for you.

I would love to lose 16kg but not in that way!!!!

Take care.

Hi Grumpy.

Having had some issues myself and also in my family recently, I know how difficult it is to cope with bad news but stay positive if you can, as it really helps the healing process.

All the very best for a successful recovery.

Cheers.

Got the results from the bloods and the CT scan on Thursday and everything seems fine except for the known massive spleen.

Is the proffesser -  doctor happy :  No .   He  and his colleagues have discussed it and they are sure that my symptoms are cancer related and he wants to find something somewhere. So, after all the tests I've had he now wants more blood and a PET Scan. Since June ive only had tests and NO treatment. To say im frustrated would be right

Well, again it's been awhile .

It was cancer and had the spleen removed just before xmas.

Needed chemo back in January,  but my liver readings were not good as it seems to have been damaged during the operation and it was deemed to dangerous to start the chemo.

Latest : the lliver readings finally got almost right so yesterday i had my first session of chemo at last (6 long hours). Another 5 shorter sessions every 3 weeks. Got my fingers crossed.

Just thought l would give you an update.

Cheers Grumpy-Gary
