Only just caught up with this thread, Grumps. An occasional visitor these days due to business restructure.

Really pleased to see the encouraging news and the great support and information you are receiving here, mate.

And no doubt the great performances of Port will be giving you some much needed joy ;)

I trust you are on anti-viral medication, Gary?  If not, you need to be ASAP.

No im not Tony. Too crook to think at the moment

You need to call your GP first thing tomorrow and get the script faxed (yes, they often still use fax!) or emailed to the pharmacy.  Hopefully a neighbour, friend or family member can pick up and deliver it.  Your GP and/or the haematology/oncology clinic should be able to help to make it happen but you have to ask.  No health professional would want a patient on chemo to cope with Covid without antiviral medication.

Not meaning to be alarmist but antivirals are important to help stop you getting much crooker.  You don't have to think too much about it - just phone, tell them what you've told us and ask for the help you need.

Tony and Keith, thank you for your info. I have a hotline to the haematolgy - cancer department at the RAH and i spke to them this morning and they sent a email script to my local chemist.

They indeed said it was needed because of my issues.

Thanks again to you both.

How are you travelling @Grumpy

You’re often in my thoughts. Hope things are going okay 🤞

G'day  old friend, I'm  doing ok, - lost my hair ,but worst is the loss of my beard.

Ive also put back most of the 21 kgs l lost when i first got crook.

Another chemo session tomorrow which hopefully will be my last ( depending on scans etc later )

Cant wait to get back to normal life and perhaps a beer which l havent had  since May 2022.

Thanks for asking Darryl

Finally had my very LAST chemo session on Tuesday. Now just have to have a PET scan in a month to see how the chemo dealt with the lymphoma.

Lots of congratulations from the nurses at the RAH made me a little emotional, but hey, no more chemo. Maybe some maintenance every 2 months over 2 years if the scan shows up any traces of cancer in the lymphnodes

Feeling better mentally  today.

Maybe a bit of vinyl spinning over the weekend will improve thing even more.

Cheers

You would look pretty different without that massive Santa Claus beard, Grumpy! Was the mid-chemo PET OK? They normally do one after the 3rd cycle (they use this to decide if they should give you 6 or 8 cycles).

G'day  Keith,  only PET scan was before the spleen op. My blood works are looking fine.

BTY my diagnosis was B Cell lymphoma (NHL)  (DLBCL)  ?

Thank you for your input Keith

I’ll have a beer for you mate 🍺

That would be nice thanks Darryl.

I'm not missing the beer so much as the social times that include the beer.

I have hardly any real taste at the moment and most things l eat taste like bitter water and the nurses kept telling me that the beer will taste pretty bad too if and when l finally have one.

How are you feeling?

G'day and thanks for asking. Im doing ok, but ill know more after a PET scan on Monday morning.

Ive got my fingers crossed that the scan will show that the chemo has done its job.
