Unfortunately my professor - doctor has gone on leave and l won't get the full details of the scans untill late October. Frustrating and a little worrying. I did see a doctor the day after the scans, but she was not prepared to give too much info as l was not her patient . It does seem likely that l will have ongoing 'maintenance' (their wording) for maybe 2 years. I'll just have to wait and see, but im feeling ok and have put quite a bit of weight back on. Thanks and cheers. Still Grumpy 5 1 1
Darryl Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 If they're not too worried maybe you can take that as an encouraging sign Grumpy. 1

I'm not sure about that Darryl. I don't think they were not worried, just didn't want to say too much about another doctors case. I think my doctor may be off sick , he's very old the professor and has had a few problems in the last 14 months that i have been seeing him at the RAH. 1

Not sure yet Keith what the treatment contains, but the lymphoma nurse mentioned more than one ingredient. Rituximab was one i think. Like all my visits to the hospital over the last year and a bit l have trouble remebering all the info that has been fed to me. I'll know more after l see my regular doctor in October.

Gary I really relate to the whole “remembering” things - the medical world is full of quite difficult language that in times of high stress is understandable to follow in the moment let alone repeat once you get home - try asking for your medical support staff to help by documenting things do you can reflect on what is being said and keep track of the advice and next steps 3
Batty Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I cant even remember the names of the tablets I am on, so many for different things. The 1 I do remember is Asprin. lol 2

Yep, - sounds like a pretty solid one at that - exactly what you were hoping for and working towards. Absolutely excellent to hear - now to get back into having fun and enjoying all the best in life again. (Sorry to hear about the Prof - a really good bloke. However, he was old when I was an intern - amazing that he's still in harness.) 2

seano Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Hey lad! I'm pleased to hear you are still trundling on despite the obvious scary challenges. I was only wondering after you the other day as we wombled down the Yorke Peninsula. We've been out of Sunraysia for five years now...back in the middle of NSW! How's the Garrard going?

G'day old friend from the past. The Garrard is fine although l haven't been playing much music since l became crook. Still got some issues with cancers on my face. (25 stiches on one and another being treated with Chemo Cream ) Yorke Peninsula. My son lives in Edithburgh over there. Thanks for the post. Grumpy-Gary. 1 2
seano Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Look after yourself and your mob. I'll try and be a bit more active here from herein but it has long been much less about the gear and the listening environment and far more about the music for me. 1
Darryl Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 How are you travelling Grumpy? One year on from your original post. Hope things are going your way 2

Hope things are going your way G'day Darryl, doing ok. I see the hematologist on Tuesday to find out if I'm officially in remission and if l have to have the 2 monthly 'maintenence' for the next 2 years. Ive also had a cancer removed from my face a few months ago (25 stiches) and they have found more suspect things on the face so, I'm having a topical chemotherapy cream for one now and in May next year a full face treatment . May when it's cooler because l have to be careful of the sun while using this bloody cream. Still, ive got my weight back and my hair 🖒. Thank you for asking and being in touch. 6 1 1
