Nakamichi OMS-5 CD Player

I purchased this from another person for 300. It stopped working the next day.

It powers on and the CD drawer opens and closes. But no lights on the display and it does not play music.

Selling if someone wants to try and fix it or needs it for parts.

I have a box I can ship it in.

Thanks @cafe67

Let me investigate this.

Some of these Nakamichis are very well regarded.

To the extent, that at least 2 CD player gurus that I know of, think that OMS-Something player being the best reader ever with the best execution of laser assembly.

I could just grab it, but I am running out of space in my place and this has 14 bit TDA-1540 DACs in it. So it is very vintage.

I have to be sure as to its reading credentials.

Thanks.

To the original poster.

If this is the case that it worked on arrival but stopped, it might be a case o fexpired capacitors.

Open it up and see if none have leaked. It might be a matter of re-capping it.

Hi Roman, Thanks for the help. I didn't see any enlarged, leaking or cooked components. That is as far as my expertise goes with electronics. This was the first time I have ever been sold something that didn't work, that the seller said he would take back, then ghosted me. I would rather someone else repair it and enjoy it then try and have it fixed. Cheers,
