I am selling my much coveted barely used Linn Sondek LP12 

this was assembled for me by Ben of Carlton Audio Visual and if you know Ben and you know your Turntables you will know that there are few people on earth who come close to Ben as a turntable afficionado and a Linn LP12 nut.

 

this was purchased brand new from CAV a few years ago (at the same time as Mr Van Den Hull did a world tour) 

 

its a Maple color deck. It has a Rega RB808 tone arm and a Van Den Hull The One cartridge 

 

when I say this is in brand new condition I am not joking 

 

I will stand by any test or inspection. If your looking for a new LP12 that has been hand assembled and set up and done almost no hours at all this is for you.

 

the base LP12 runs something like $17,000 rrp these days without a lid 

then add a further $3500 for the Van Den Hull, the tone arm and the matt 

(I can supply the original rubber mat as well) 

 

I have the complete factory packaging and boxes so shipping is also an option but a local sale preferred 

 

I know everyone in this forum always wants a bargain and nothing sells unless it’s 50% of what new cost is so I have priced it accordingly

 

if you are after a new LP 12 custom assembled and upgraded at half price here it is

Nice deck

I'm no Linn expert and someone please correct me if I'm wrong isn't the base Linn Sondek the Majik? 

so is this effectively an akurate spec under the platter or is it the 'sondek' deck prior to Majik which is significantly tweaked... just confused with Linn.

Jimboz you are absolutely correct 

I will amend my description and asking price 

 

my deck is a Majik with upgraded tonearm and Van Den Hull Cartridge 

 

this means I have benchmarked the rrp too high 

 

I will adjust the askjng price accordingly but of course I am open to any genuine offers

No dramas... I am always confused (and still am!) with Linn LP12 ... so many upgrades and bits and bobs, different metals etcc that make price go up and up and the thing looks the same but performance goes up and up and up and up. The top level is $50K! .... I have met the guy at Carlton in the past - yep he's factitious in a good way! upside down phono stages and all that - good luck!
