Developed to celebrate Rega's 25th anniversary, this is a beautiful turntable. Rega developed a new tonearm for it (RB600) and wired it with the low-capacitance Klotz GY 107 cable (from the P9) and Neutrik RCA plugs. It is fitted with a Rega Exact cartridge.

Please note that the dust cover hinges are broken, otherwise it is working fine. It was last checked over about 2 years ago.

I've owned it since new and only selling as I've upgraded to a Linn LP12 Selekt.

I've attached a link to a Stereophile review.  https://www.stereophile.com/turntables/309/index.html

I would prefer pickup from my home in Sydney, where you would be welcome to audition it. Otherwise I can bring to the Gold Coast over Christmas.

Happy to answer any questions.

l've got a P25, bought new in 1999. I've modded it over the years and the last step this year was to change it to the Rega 24V motor and Neo PSU and fit the Audiomods Mk 6 tonearm. I'd considered upgrading/replacing it but I like it too much to let it go.

The hinges can be purchased from any Rega dealer - Len Wallis in Lane Cove is where I bought the motor/Neo. It's a quick fix to replace the hinges.

I've just had my P25 fully serviced, the 24V motor fitted (bolted to the plinth as per the original P25, rather than the adhesive pad in the Rega motor kit and so didn't need to cover the holes in the plinth with the black stickers) and the tonearm/cartridge fitted and forensically aligned by Mark Busby. Lucky for me as there was a fault with the new Rega motor which he picked up and organised a replacement.

Mark Busby is the real deal - I know my turntable is set up perfectly now and runs at true speed too. Here's an article about him in Soundstage Australia. I can't recommend him highly enough - he's that good!

The P25 is a real classic and looks so good in the flesh with the stand-off plinth surround (mine's all black). Sure Rega made improvements over the years but the P25 (and P9) was the last of the traditional,  flat-rectangular minimalist plinth and cover that looked good then, does so now and will still be a stand-out in another 25 years.

If anyone has just started with LPs and a basic table and wants to step it up, then this P25 is definitely worth considering.

When you sell your P25 could you please let the buyer know to contact me as I have the Heed Audio PSU, Expressimo Audio underslung counterweight, aftermarket feet, SRM Tech Motor Thrust Bearing Kit and a Tango-Spinner brass double pulley in storage that they may be interested in.

Thanks Mark, that is really useful information. I’ve had quite a good response to the ad. If it sells I’ll refer the buyer to your comments.

Cheers,

Peter

What a wonderful (and I presume totally independent) endorsement for someone else's sale. Very helpful suggestions too.

Great info, thanks Mark. I picked up a modded P25 a while back via the SN classifieds, and they'll be taking it from my cold, dead hands! A wonderful, classy table even without the mods. Curious to know how much of a difference the 24V/Neo combo made over the original motor, with or without the Heed PSU. I've often thought of trying out the Heed but they're quite rare and usually pretty pricey. Mark Busby certainly looks the goods!

Peter, great looking example of this classic turntable, GLWTS.

Cheers,

Brad.

I changed to the Neo and 24V DC motor just so that I could fine tune the speed. The Heed Audio ORBIT 2 PSU is still available new. It was the first to address the stable AC power. Most of the reviews of it have dropped off the internet now.

https://heedaudio.com/modular-line/

Scroll down for an explanation of what it does. Music Hall did two types for the old synchronous motor - one was speed-adjustable (no longer available) but they're very rare and expensive to buy on the used market.

Many thanks Peter, I'll check that out!
