iz_thewiz Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Hi all, I am re-designing my current systems power distribution and hoping to upgrade the standard power leads to something of higher spec. I am currently utilising a Furman M-10x E power conditioner for distribution and conditioning from the mains for the majority of my system. There are certain components that benefit from being constantly powered on and others that don't, so with that in mind I was planning on utilising the Furman for components that can be powered off (eg: stereo meter system) and adding a high spec power strip like the Isotek Polaris v5 to distribute power to components that I would like to keep powered on. I was also planning on running higher spec power cables with the Isotek Polaris to feed the most important components (eg: phono pre, turntable), whilst also powering the Furman off the Polaris strip. This way, in theory, the entire system is running off the same earth / conditioning from the Polaris. Now obviously the market is saturated with high end audiophile grade power cables and accessories, and with budget in mind ($200-300 per cable) I am leaning towards either Isotek or EGM Audio. Personally I would prefer to opt for EGM Audio based on the aussie made factor, made to order on-line, and seem to get a lot of praise. I'm sure Isotek also make fantastic cables as well. Think entry-level audio power cables, not $10K power cable with rhodium plated - silver polished - magic crystal - Furutech certified - electro-bathed in pure oxygen-free / purity-free virgin's laughter - etc Cheers! 1
rocky500 Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 The only thing I can add is I did not like the cheaper range of Isotek power cables myself as they where not shielded. That is the main thing I tend to look for as my cables behind my stereo are a bit of a mess and can't see that changing much. So wanted to make sure any I looked at above the standard ones where shielded. Also the Isotek use a very soft rubber type material that can mark pretty easy. Right now I have some RF interference I have to track down, that I think is to do with my current power leads. 2
frankn Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Personally I prefer https://audioprincipe.com.au/australian-power-cables/signature-shielded-power-cable/ or, the cheaper premium line if you don't want to spend so much. I use these over the IsoTek Premier or Sequel cables 5 1

(Audio Principe ) His power cables are second to none ( although I am a power cable sceptic ) but the quality and durability of his cables is superb. Value for money is also fantastic compared to some of the big names ,who ( in the interests of harmony, ) I won't mention. 6
075Congo Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Cameron at Krispy Audio made some stunning power cables back when the earth was cool but seems to focus on crafting interconnects and speaker cables(?) at the moment. The Audio Principe Signature Power Cables with FURUTECH connectors on board would be my choice over EGM power cables. The only other connector to match FURUTECH are the SHUNYATA Copper CONN connectors but the price of entry stops me. 1

Just brilliant engineering that does exactly what is claimed. Superb quality, hand made by Geoff Maloney in Brisbane. 2
075Congo Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Yes Geoff is a legend but power cables is not on his menu. Cheers Mick 2

075Congo Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Not sure what AUS/NZ power connectors that EGM Audio use but I'm a FURUTECH power connector all the way! More expensive but ........Furutech is a superior choice! 1

075Congo Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Dragon R1 interconnect rule but not a power cable: be interesting to hear from Geoff Maloney re power cord construction. Merry Xmas

Merry Xmas I would not presume to speak for Geoff but he once told me why he does not make power cables.............................I am sure you guys get the drift.
MTL Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Since when can you buy Shunyata CopperCONN connectors separately?

You're right about that. Pretty weird that an 'audiophile' company make un-shielded AC power cables.
barbz127 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Id also recommend the audio Principe range. I had some of the egm base range and found them rather inflexible and when taking two apart discovered that the insulation had been split when they used wire strippers.
iz_thewiz Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Hi all, Quick update. Ended up with a combination of EGM Audio power cables and an Isotek V5 Polaris power strip. I ended up needed to terminate one end of the supplied Isotek Initium cable to a powerCON connector to utilise the system link output of the Polaris to then feed my Furman power conditioner. I've been putting the system through it's paces after re-cabling and re-calibrating certain components, and I'm noticing less noise floor immediately along with increased clarity and more weight overall (if that makes sense). Already put another order in. 3
