Remastered classics from Pentatone.
Mozart concertos no.12 in A, k.414 and no.17 in G, k453

Played by Alfred Brendel, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner 

Recorded in 1970 Wembley Town Hall.

Onto another two wonderful Mozart piano concertos, no.24 in c (k.491) and no.13 in C (k.415), with Martin Helmchen on piano with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra

I just finished this (for the umpteenth time):

What a ride, every time! I've come to think that Currentzis and MusicAeterna are the hottest classical gig of our time. They just blow the dust away and bring stuff to life, with incredible precision and passion. Another one that blew me away recently was this:

A real showpiece, especially the fourth movement:

This is from a box of Denon single-point recordings I bought back in the 90s. The sound is spectacular, it's unbelievable what they get out of a single pair (!) of Brüel & Kjær microphones – without mixing, straight to PCM. Really makes you wonder why not everything is recorded that way.

Jörg Demus played a restored 1790 Fortepiano on this recording.

Snap - well, at least on the conductor. and maybe 7 hours afterward....but apart from that
