As per my recent post in another thread, I'm looking to learn more about the classical scene.

So I started reading the wiki on it and was surprised to find, that it started long before the well-known composers. The middle ages in fact. So that's where I've gone for my current listening session.

Hildegard von Bingen - born in the high middle ages (1098 AD). From Wikipedia: She is one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony, as well as the most recorded in modern history.[3] She has been considered by many in Europe to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany.[4]

She sounds like quite the incredible woman.

Pretty wonderful to be able to listen to music and chanting from over a millenia ago!

Sorry, no pics. Cameras weren't invented yet 😜

Isabelle Faust / Queyras,Jean-Guihen - Beethoven: Triple Concerto | Main Street Vinyl

This is worth returning to again swiftly after a recent first listen.  Well recorded and an exuberant performance.

Itzhak Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy - Beethoven: Violin Sonatas

Ludwig van Beethoven, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Itzhak Perlman - Beethoven: The Violin Sonatas - Amazon.com Music

The first recording I heard, and owned, of these works, so a sentimental favourite (and Perlman delivers sentimentality in spades).
