MusicOne Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) Sir Simon Rattle conducts the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in a more modern performance of Igor Stravinsky's seminal ballet, The Rite of Spring....Le Sacre du Printemps....a recording from 2017. The LSO is perhaps the greatest symphony orchestra of all....at least it was when I was actively collecting recordings, back in the 1970s through early 2000s This is a truly astounding work and it caused a sensation when it was premiered in Paris in 1913 Edited May 7, 2022 by MusicOne 3

jazzdog@groovemasters Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Kenneth Gilbert, J.S. Bach-– Variations Goldberg. Harmonia Mundi – HMA 1951240 Musique D'Abord. CD, Reissue, France 2001. On some harpsichord recordings of the Goldberg's the artist sets a frenetic pace & with choice of instrument can end up sounding like they are smashing glass. Not so with this interpretation, less repeats in this version, makes for a sonically 'laid back' experience, so to speak, to the lay person, such as I. 3
