I listened to Nos. 6 and 8 last night. ABC Classic played the Pastorale during the morning when I was driving for work, but I didn't catch all of it. I might join you in spinning Eroica now.

SSO are playing Piano Concerto 3 and Symphony 3 tomorrow night....so this was my warm up! I like the Harnoncourt readings...though I have been overly drawn to the Gardiner 1990s versions since release!

I dug this out today, unfortunately it’s in poor condition, but what a fantastic performance , so much better than anything i could find on Spotify or Tidal, which had the same 2 or 3 albums

Potato fires? I’ll add that to the list of google priorities today. Sounds like theme music for the origin story of the invention of hash browns.

The Beethoven Quartet - Shostakovich: String Quartets

Wow, you're a lucky person, owning that collection. What a unique sound they had - inimitable, and never to be heard again!

(I have more of them done by the 70s Borodins, which I think I recall you mentioning before - totally different sound, but also spot on, and never to be heard again).

Almost enough of a tease for me to get back into vinyl.

The first couple of bars of the Beethovens' Shostakovich Octet are forever etched into my memory!

Ahhh, sadly just digital, but enjoyable nonetheless. A recent splurge on the Fitzwilliam Quartet version on vinyl was pricey but well worth it.
