arpasquill Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Another dreary day in foggy Sydney town meant that I jumped into another set of Shostakovich Quartets, today provided by the Keller Quartet on ECM, alongside Schnittke's Piano Quintet which I didn't know - and thoroughly enjoyed! But tonight, thanks to Roon and its suggestions, I will be exploring the Quartets by Armenian composer Tigran Mansurian. I know his Requiem but am unfamiliar with his chamber music so here goes! 4

It would be fair to say that the Schnittke is one of the most challenging yet fulfilling pieces of choral music that I've ever worked on. An absolute joy! 2 1
lemarquis Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Back in the 90s JB Camberwell had the best selection of discounted classical CDs. As labels were moving to DDD releases the old AAD issues were sold off. This boxset was probably less than $50 for 5 CDs, 4
