After being disappointed to discover that my Living Stereo LSC-2265 (Rubinstein Concerto no.2) copy has a severe warp, this is sounding very nice as a spin instead.

Dan Tepfer - Goldberg Variations / Variations -- a jazz pianist tackles Johann's work and adds improvisations between each variation. You'd think this would be modernized a la Jacques Loussier Trio but the work is played reverently and the improvisations blend in very well with nary a hint of swing. Noice. There's a new album tackling the inventions in a similar manner. Streaming via the spotifies.
