I did keep a nice rip though I agree this is a great album. I dont have a physical copy (streamed it via Qobus) but think I need to find one. I figured Oratorio on a Sunday night was appropriate and McKellar is one of my favourite tenors for Handel arias
dwbasement Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Testing my recently finished woofer box. Sounds much better now when listen to big orchestral pieces. 6

Steff Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 @lemarquis very good! all three an op shop find? On the weekend @Keith_W played us Helmut Walcha's The Art of the Fugue organ recording...very good. 1
lemarquis Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) @Steff no just the Bach plus 15 others - all classical. Walcha is the master. This disc sounds very good, Never tire of Bach's organ music and always sounds fresh with a different interpretation. Edited August 15, 2023 by lemarquis 1

Steff Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) I'm listening to the English language version of this satire: "In Praise of Folly" - the actors are so much more astute at giving voice to Erasmus' humour than their counterparts of the French version, I found. jazzdog@groovemasters Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) I recently heard a couple of interviews with William Barton on ABC Classic, including his recollections of his collaboration with the late Peter Sculthorpe and the QSO on this album, Songs of Sea and Sky. In particular, Earth Cry. It should have national iconic status, if it doesn't already. Edited August 17, 2023 by jazzdog@groovemasters 2
