Luckiestmanalive Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) Happy new year, everyone! I imported this popular 100W 1980s integrated amplifier from Japan (it is a 100V model) several months ago to use during the summer months when I thought my Luxman valve amp would not be able to stand the heat. I'm selling it as I've not needed it and it is just sitting around, annoying my wife. It is not in great condition, cosmetically, principally because it has been mishandled, causing dents in both front corners and the plastic cheeks to break (and subsequently repaired and refitted). However, it is in pretty good shape, otherwise, and works just fine. There are also a couple of scratches visible on the front fascia. The only things I've done are to: check and reflow the solder on the connections of the transistors (a bit of maintenance recommended on this and like models) adjust the bias back within spec, as per instructions in the manual (which you can find online) replace the bulb over the volume control (the others work fine) and I will throw in the rest of the bag of replacement bulbs. I haven't checked the tape functions but all the other controls seem to work as they are supposed to. As it is a 100V model, you will need a step-down trannie and, if I was keeping it, I was going to recap it as there is a great thread on Audiokarma detailing how to do it - https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/luxman-l-430-recap-overhaul.845092/ The Luxman L-430 is a pre-Alpine class AB integrated amplifier with the following controls: switchable MM/MC phono stage direct phono and line stage in to shorten the signal path tone controls (treble and bass) and tone defeat subsonic and high pass filters mono/stereo switch low freq boost left/right balance control A and B speaker switching pre-out and main-in switching. Specs: Power output: 105 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo) with first 8 watts in class A Frequency response: 10Hz to 100kHz Total harmonic distortion: 0.015% Input sensitivity: 0.1mV (MC), 2.5mV (MM), 200mV (line) Signal to noise ratio: 67dB (MC), 87dB (MM), 110dB (line) Output: 200mV (line) Dimensions: 453 x 425 x 135mm Weight: 13.5kg Some links for more details of the L-430: http://www.thevintageknob.org/luxman-L-430.html https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/luxman/l-430.shtml Review on hifi-classic: https://www.hifi-classic.net/review/luxman-l-430-501.html Edited January 4, 2023 by Luckiestmanalive Better pics of front and rear
JukKluk2 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 I had one of these back in the early '80's, loved it. GLWS 1
Luckiestmanalive Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 Thanks, mate! I like it a lot, just not enough to withstand the withering look from my wife when I explain why I need three amps...

Is that the same look you give her when you ask why she has so many ...insert appropriate clothing/make-up item here...? 1
