Please keep us update. I'm very curious to hear your impressions. Especially if you put it in an existing Origins cabinet.

If it ends up in Lii cabinets that’s far larger than will fit in my current room. It will wait on selling 3x properties, buying another and building a new home just to hear them. So probably a number of years off. I'd likely go with the Glory cabinets as they're the best cabinet they offer in terms of sonics.

Actually I'm very much leaning towards Glory-10 cabs. They're known to work extremely well with the PT-10. I'll get Lii to custom build for the PT-10.... Just a bigger hole for the drivers. There's just fewer unknowns and less frustration all around.

I'm in discussion with my contact at Lii Song about a cabinet based around the current Glory-10, but a full floor stander, maybe a little deeper and potentially less wide overall. Could be a real winner.  :D

I rather suspect if they build a new cabinet optimzed for this driver it will become an official offering. It would make good sense as that way they can get a ready made speaker into reviewers hands....

Well since you named the Platinum-10's what's your name for the new speakers?

I'll make an argument for a name but it's up to them in the end. Personally I like the idea of "Emperor" as he was the big kahuna back in the day.

I like it.... It seems very fitting- especially with the cabinet size it requires.

Yup, Leon seems to like it also. It seems this year they will be concentrating on improving their cabinet build and finish quality to address common complaints as drivers are already as good as they can build. Once done then time to get speakers into reviewers hands.

A good idea as overall finish really is the current achilleas heel with their completed speakers. Once addressed though then they've a world class product in every respect  :)

Andrew from Creation Audio got in touch with today. It seems I can get these drivers into action sooner rather than later now. :D

Still open to different cabinet designs but I’m leaning towards big Onken style cabinets.

I can just squeeze 467L cabinets into my current listening space so that’s as big a as they’ll get for me.  Will look a big stupid but once in the new home it’ll all work out. ;)

They’re going to look crazy big. I don’t think my wife will tolerate in my current home though I’ll give it a crack saying here it’s only temporary until in the new home and there will be more space

 Shaping up to be:

550 wide x 600 deep x 1750 tall for 467L

Nothing in concrete yet. Rather than the initially discussed Onken cabs we're looking at 2x slot ports towards the bottom of the cabinet like on Crites Speakers (click here)

Bass tuning at 30Hz. Apparently bass will drop off more steeply under 30Hz though there's really not much under 30Hz in music that I listen to anyway so no problem there. I think I'm going to be pretty delighted with this  ;)

Yeah too big for my current room really…. But not for the home we’ll be building.

Can squeeze in where we are but it’ll dominate the room. Too quote “The new guy”: Who’s the biatch now?  :P

Do you guys reckon a Salt and Pepper speaker grill cloth would look great with big Karri veneered cabs.... Installed similarly to Klipsh Cornwall or Forte grill cloth?

I really hope we can get Karri veneer though I guess we'll see:

Here's the cabinet design (click here)..... Not sure if final but looks good to me  :)

Interesting, Lii Europe have the Platinum-10 drivers listed. Now full price rather than pre-sale price:

https://lii-audio-europe.com/product/speakers/platinum-10/

2950 Euros….. That translates to $4,514 Australian. I’m sure glad I didn’t pay that but if performance is where I hope that will still be e a suitable price for those who love fleawatt amps etc.

Coolio, deposit down for materials and  cabinet design is finalised. Any further updates will likely be build updates. :D

Coolio, Andrew has indicated that he’s picking up the Jarrah hardwood panel’s tomorrow, and plywood panels will ship to the wood cutters in a matter of days. Things are progressing.

I also received the brass Lii Song badges and mounting screws which will go on the front of the cabinet.  :)

Mmmm, a bit longer. The company providing the 24mm ply was 2 panels short. It will be all cut and ready for assembly some time next week. Then another 2 weeks or so for assembly.

Gah, I suck at this waiting business! Still it’ll be worth the wait and may even be the first Platinum-10 based speaker in the wild.  :D

Wow I cant wait to see what people do with these drivers! It looks like Steve at decware is working on a folded horn cabinet for these drivers too. Fun to watch the early development as it happens.

No it was just a quick blurb in an email, with a pic of the driver and that schematic, saying to look out for more in the future.

Ah, interesting. A pity he doesn’t have a thread on it though. A well.

Interesting..... It seems Lii Song will also release 8" Platinum drivers. If the difference in pricing remains the same percentage wise from the Silver series then I'd expect those to be around $1600 AUD. Quite a bit more affordable.

Cool, so the Platinum-10 have been officially released now. Pricing is better than I'd anticipated:

https://www.lii-audio.com/product/one-pair-reference-level-10-fullrange-drivers-platinum-10/

With some luck I'll have my ready built speakers in a few more weeks to try them. Panels are with Sharp Panels for veneering now. I believe they're already CNC cut or I hope they are. Once all this is done then Andrew has said 2 weeks to assemble.

It seems  @DEssig has mounted the PT-10 in Lii Origin cabinets. Even though not ideal for them in terms of volume they sound far better than the prior Silver-10’s: https://www.decware.com/cgi-bin/yabb22/YaBB.pl?num=1679084789/1

Some quotes from that thread:

"EVERTHYING is a big step up from the Silver10 drivers. Deeper, more articulate bass. Midrange is huge. The high end- oh my, Oh so sweet. I immediately put on DireStraits "You and Your Friend", a song I am very familiar with, and was blown away. At the end of the song, in the right channel, there are some very light, distant cymbal strikes, that I have never heard before. Even though they were off in the distance they came across very metallic. My wife walked into the room and immediately commented on how much better they sound. We have an elliptical at the back end of the same room. She was going to get a workout in, and when she does she always wears EarPods. I typically ask her if she wants the stereo on and she always says "no- I'm fine with my EarPods"  .. However- this time she wanted the stereo on and kept commenting on how good it sounded. Now I wonder if I have a new partner in crime, or if I'll ever get the sweet spot on the couch again?"

"After about 15 hrs my impression of these is, they have the same signature sound as the Silver10 drivers, but with more of it. They are very transparent. The highs and lows are more extended, and cleaner. The midrange has more density. All doing this without focusing on any one frequency range. These drivers are faster and more dynamic. The music has more pop to it without being in your face. There is a sense of ease and not at all being forced.
I don't get any congestion, or confusion on more complex music.
When listening to "Trains" by Porcupine Tree on the S10 the music sounded good, but would get a little confused at times. There is absolutely no confusion with the P10's. They handle the layers and density of the music perfectly. Can't wait to get more time on these. They are impressing the heck out of me, and I thought my system sounded pretty good before."

Woot! Just got of the phone with Andrew and panels have been veneered and CNC cut. Just the finishing touches going in like recess cut for the drivers to be flush mounted with the front baffle, binding posts positioned angled down at 45 degrees etc.

Build pictures soon to come  ;)
