tripitaka Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Those be heavy speakers, Matty, hope your weight training is on track 1

This was one of my considerations before going with this build…. As well as Mike Lenehans latest speaker. Given that I already love the sonics of my current Lii Song Fieke S6 I felt the Platinum-10 based speakers were a safer choice for much the same price as the DeVore Orangutan O/96 and greater efficiency at 1W. I really like playing with relatively inexpensive and great sounding low wattage amps. My 15WPC SIT-A15 is overkill for such speakers Edited April 12, 2023 by MattyW 1
crtexcnndrm99 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Will be good to see the behemoths in place. I know they’re tall already and may be designed for driver at listening height, but I reckon small risers a la DeVore or even the krenrick sound style JBL blocks would suit them visually 1
muon* Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 I would be definitely be placing Whites anti vibration pads under these once the best position is found.. 1
THOMO Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Jarrah anything will be very hard to get after next year. Which is a real shame.Despite two independent studies that showed that the forest resource was sustainably and well managed and one which has only ever been selectively logged and only allowed in regrowth forest the WA government has caved into pressure from environmental lobbyists using all sorts of misinformation and hyperbole and will shut down the industry next year. There will be a small amount from clearfelling operations for bauxite mining allowed in the northern jarrah forest .Which really is environmentally destructive and unsustainable but somehow will be allowed to continue. 2 1

I use a pair of Thoeress 2CD12's that have an open base and 3 point contact. Each surface has a small felt pad and does the trick beautifully, both easy to move and isolates. Your boxes look fantastic but heavier than mine so may benefit from Ian's suggestion ? 1

WOW sitting in Melb sipping my coffee with Browns Milk from WA. (grey up there) Rescued some Jarrah table tops recently that I made years ago saving for another project not enough for speakers but a beautiful timber. 1

My preference for veneer was actually Karri though that wasn’t available unfortunately so the next best thing was jarrah. 25mm extra added to lower port shelf. This will then align with the 50mm trim. Edited April 9, 2023 by MattyW 5
