thejt Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Hey everyone, I am having trouble identifying exactly which model tonearm I have so that I can determine how to locate it on a plinth. Originally I thought it was an RKG309 based off the counterweight and the style of the vertical bearing. Upon measuring though out appears too long. I was expecting the same 320mm from centre of bearing to stylus tip as the RMG309 who's datasheet I could find. Instead it's a bit over 300mm just to the end of the arm itself so am SPU G tip would exceed the 320mm. The connector at the end of the arm isn't a vertical down only connection so that rules out the arm being an RK309 from photos I've found online of that model. Stranger again is that the counter weight section of the arm looks more like that of some RF297 I have seen online with the black stub. So anyone with any ideas?
Analogsound Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 looks like your tonearm is RK-309 for SPU type A RKG-309 for SPU type G and the armwand short than RK-309 about 15~20mm
thejt Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 The headshell connector isn't typical for an arm designed for a SPU A but it otherwise points to it being an RK309.
audiofeline Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 From Ortofon, on their "historical" - https://www.ortofon.com/hifi/products/historical-products/ Scroll down the page for the "Vintage and Historical Tonearms and Turntables" section. Click on the product for a page with more info. It's not as comprehensive as I would have expected (there are products missing), but it's good to have what they provided.
