Further Information

Selling my much loved, rare JBL 4411s which I bought in November 2015 from Chris(Kelossus).
Will truly miss these.

Early 80's Studio monitor tuned by David Smith. Cabinet and divers in beautiful condition.. not flawless, but they might be the best
you'll see anywhere and the sound is on another level above stock.
Kept in a dry, dark, dedicated hifi room, and always covered with bubble wrap and a cardboard box when not in use. Yes seriously
Of course no smoking, no pets.

They are now ready to audition.

I swear I had a spare pair of 044 tweeters too, but I turned the place upside down and couldn't find them.

I think Kelossus said it best in his original ad so I'll paste it here.

Another set of Mint JBLs for sale here. Quite possibly the best kept ones I have owned.

I brought these from Ebay US along with a bunch of other goodies at the time. As mentioned I haven't seen a set of these in this

good condition, the corners are so sharp you could cut yourself. The original grill fabric is still mint. Only issue cosmetically

is the baffle paint has a few chips. I had the cabinets french polished for a longer lasting finish over the original oil finish.

I would never put a poly finish on something like this as it looks like crap (offense intended).

These are complete unmolested originals. The drivers in perfect condition I refoamed the 128H's with the Rick Cobb surrounds from

US earlier this year. I was surprised when I opened the boxes as even the cabinet damping material looks brand new, I really

believe these have had little to no use over the years. The magnets on the back drivers are so clean it looks as though they have

never been touched.

The 4411's are right up there. They may look similiar to the L112's but it stops there. The 4411's utilize a better mid-range with

a copper edgewound coil for +3db efficiency. Also the crossovers are far more complex on the 4411's.

Drivers are arranged in a tight cluster for near-mid field monitoring but perform in home environments also. I prefer them mounted

horizontally.

Out of the smaller 44xx bookshelf monitors the 4411's are the pick. Far better suited to home listening than the 4410's and 4412's

and a lot rarer.

If you haven't heard a set of 4411's then you owe it to yourself to get a pair. These are in a completely different league when

compared to the older L100's, 4311b's and in my opinion the transducers utilised here better the 4412's. These are fun speakers to

own and like all vintage JBL's are capable of high SPL's with little power.

This is my opinion on each driver specifically so take it with a grain of salt:

The 044 tweeter is a special one and is more enjoyable than the titanium tweeters JBL was producing around the same time. They are

not as brittle sounding as the 035TI/052TI and can smooth over poorly recorded music. Also worth mentioning these are die-cast

frames unlike the 035TI/052TI which are made of a flexible plastic.

The LE5-9 Midrange is lively and exciting and is a staple of many JBL monitors from that period. It has a superior voice coil than

the LE5-10/LE5-12 resulting in +3db efficiency, by no means is a LE5-10 a suitable replacement and the LE5-9 shouldn't be confused

with them.

The 128H woofer is probably JBL's best vintage 12 inch Transducer capable of a high crossover point, worth mentioing as the 2203's

and 121As are FANTASTIC 12inch transducers but are more suited for VLF applications. I much prefer the tight extended bass from

these than the boomy 2214H's which were later used in the 4425/L100T. These have a deep rich note and have that vintage JBL thump

that hits you right in the chest.

Thanks for your interest.
