If your new remote feels heavy you might want to remove the useless weight. Unfortunate that the IC had it's legs ripped off. If it's bloody arms had been ripped off we could blame Auntie Jack. Yeah, no problem with the 16DIL because the solder just separated from the solder pads. But I'm sure the three missing legs from the DIL will cause some problems with operation.. anyway, I have a spare that i paid $8.00 for (when it arrives) not even worth heating up the soldering iron for that.. As for removing the scrap iron from the other remotes, I'll probably just try not to drop them.. Or maybe glue the suckers in, like they should have been in the first place. I think removing the weight might upset the fine balance of such a precision instrument anyway.. 1
