Further Information

Fantastic standmount speakers from Lenehan Audio.

One of the best sounding bookshelf speakers that I have tried so far and it is one month old and it keeps getting better.

This is usually come as a kit but this unit was completely built by Mike Lenehan by paying extra and also paid extra for magnetic speaker grill.

The binding posts are solid red copper binding posts costs extra $100.

Only thing that needs to be done is painting on cabinet.

I was told from Mike that this is the last pair of LK1 so may be a great chance to grab and hear what Lenehan speakers sounds like.

Speaker cabinets are rock solid and it has over-built crossovers that is as big as entire back panel.

My intention was paint the cabinet and use it for permanent dedicated 2 channel setup in my room but I suspect my skill to paint the cabinet and want to try Harbeth speakers hence checking anyone would be interested.

Dimension of each speaker: 30cm Deep x 17cm Wide x 33cm High.

I have original box so can post at buyer's cost.

Thank you.

Just go for it, I was worried about painting mine, I used primer and a small roller, then sanded back, three times, then satin white enamel with a roller, the outcome is very good.

As you say, they are very good speakers and you will regret selling them.

Mike even sanded the surface so just need to paint them but it has some unique shape on the front baffle so not sure how easy it would be. Last time I tried painting with gloss black on another project did not go well and shows imperfection on several spots when I closer look so hesitant to do it myself. 😔

Use satin to finish, so much more forgiving.

If you want gloss, then lacquer it after.

How are these compared to the ML2s? Are they stands included? Thanks.

I personally never compared between the two so no idea. My guess is that ML2 should be better since they are bigger in size and more expensive.  (I am not sure what the price of ML2 but quite a bit more expensive).

Re: stands, Sorry.. no. it is not included especially if shipping is required to QLD.

Thanks Spider

So are they similar to the ML1s? I am not familiar with this model, but it’s not like I have been keeping up-to-date with Lenehan gear.

All good re. stands.

Sorry... This is the first and only pair of Lenehan speakers that I personally tried so can't say how similar it is. I wish I have tried all of his wonderful speakers range to do comparison.

The LK1 was released as a DIY Kit by Lenehan Audio ( roughly $1200) and offered considerable performance at its price. You can follow a lot of the LK1 development on the Lenehan Audio Facebook page. Not sure how many LK1 kits were developed but all the LA  gang sure got excited! Trying to compare it to the ML1 and ML2........right bloodline but not in the same street performance wise.I owned a pair of ML2 References for a few years and their performance as a standmount was incredible.

What I dont miss about the ML2 was the weight of them and the stands........about 60KG I reckon......nasty. Good luck with selling this pair of LK1's.......Mike finishing them makes them very special. Foilflex cabling is a must do!

Ah.... I just checked the price of Foilflex speaker cables and it costs more than this speakers itself. 😨

Must be fantastic cables...

The Lenehan Audio Foilflex cables are worth investing in. The XLR's are very hard to beat for performance.

Thanks. I will take a mental note and see if I can try a pair in the near future.

😆 Yes! They are super heavy. I helped deliver your set to their new owner :)

+1 for the Foilflex. These sales forum are your best bet.
