Further Information

Great sounding vintage B&W DM-570 speakers with black cabinets in great overall condition, these have been in my family since new and have very been well looked after throughout that time, some repairs have been made by me over the years to keep them going strong, detailed below. I personally love the sound these speakers produce - excellent for music, TV and movies. The reason I am selling is because I have been given a newer set of floor standing speakers but these B&Ws still have plenty of life left in them! ...See my other post for an accompanying subwoofer.

Comes as shown, I don't have the user manuals unfortunately, but these are readily found on the internet - links are below.

Vintage: Approximately 1989, ~33 years old

Cosmetic condition: 7/10
Very good overall condition for their age with some non-visible damage on the base
Cabinets: minor visible marks and dents on the cabinets as shown in photos. One cabinet has some damage underneath, in the early 1990's these speakers were mounted on wall brackets and some of the underneath chipboard tore upon removal, this damage cannot be seen unless you look underneath the unit. Additionally, the cabinet is still sealed and there is no impact to speaker performance or its ability to be placed floor or stand mounted
Grilles: the cloth grilles are in very good condition and are still nicely glued down, there is one very small pull in the cloth on one unit, both badges are perfectly intact.

Speaker condition: 9/10
Woofers: original, surround, cone and dust cap all perfect
Tweeters: replaced with excellent condition second-hand TM-303 units as per original spec (as one of the original tweeters stopped working in the early 2000's, I chose to replace both with a matched set)
Crossovers: replaced with highest quality components and new circuit boards to accommodate the physically larger components - all component values and circuit design are exactly as per replacement parts manual right down to inductor wire gauge and choice of core

Technical details from manuals:
Sensitivity: 91dB
Impedence: 8Ohm
Crossover: Fourth-order acoustic response low-pass and high-pass
Drive units: 200mm (8") bass/midrange composite fibre driver, 26mm (1") high frequency aluminium dome driver
Power handling: Suitable for amplifiers with 10W - 120W output
Dimensions: 634mm x 236mm x 302mm (HxWxD)
Weight: 10.75kg
Cabinet finish: Simulated veneer

HI Dave,

Greg from Active Acoustics on the Sunshine Coast Qld.

We specialise in speaker repairs, reconing, refoaming etc.

Looking at the 570's, damage to the bottom of one of the boxes is fairly significant. Unless there is an internal repair to seal it, the box integrity is likely compromised.

We'd offer you $150 for them.

We have a pair in stock for sale at $200 in perfect condition.

See here.

Dave,

Still interested in the 570's if you want to sell them based on my previous offer.

Regards

Greg
