Pat O'Brien at WAR Audio (Perth) was the first to get the A6 and Z8 DAC into WA. He has his new consignment of A6's arriving next week. He also has Z8 DAC's in stock. However, he does have an exclusive offer; if you buy a A6 from him he will give you a free 4TB internal SSD. I suggest anyone interested should give him a call. Hiya , Do you know the price $

I would think that with the free 4TB SSD it would be the standard price of $1399. Best to get the pricing from Pat himself, if you are keen best send him a text on 0425 116 763 or an email pat.bakoon@gmail.com, DHL is meant to be delivering on Tuesday and stock is selling fast. I spent three hours Saturday with Pat and a couple of others listening to DSD files via the Eversolo Z8 DAC (black fascia), through Bakoon amplification, sounded really good. Big open sound stage and they seem to have tamed the glare that Sabre DAC chips were known to present, we noticed that improvement on the DAC output from the A6 streamer as well. Cheers Andy 1
coolgen Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) Can you connect a laptop or external drive to the A6's USB 3.0 OTG input to transfer (ie copy) Flac files to the A6's SSD? Or, is that input just for reading files to play only? I understand the other way to load up the SSD is either externally or via Wifi using SMB server (Sambo?) to A6. However, I figured it would be quicker, easier to connect via a cable. Edited July 10, 2023 by coolgen

Dr.Funk Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Hi Guys, Has anyone hooked up an SSD inside the A6? If so did they find it straight forward? SSD's are supplied unformatted, I am wondering how the A6 identifies the SSD in the first unformatted instance, does it identify as SSD? Looking at an online manual, page 5, states format via the Home Screen, then find the storage device, tap the icon top-left corner 'Format'. On the left column the manual shows, top to bottom, Favourite, Storage, ?? (Chinese writing), SMB, NFS and Settings. When selecting the obvious 'Storage', my friend has nothing showing, despite an SSD in the trapdoor. I am not sure if something has been lost in translation. I thought I would ask the collective before my A6 arrives at the end of the week, perhaps saving me a headache as well. Thanks Andy
mozart1503560475 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I actually installed, formatted and loaded my SSD on my PC first. Worked like a charm when I fitted in the A6.

How did you connect the SSD to the PC, is there some sort of external SATA caddy or do you have to install it internally on the motherboard?

Or are you talking about a NVMe SSD card that plugs in the underside trap door of the A6? They are two completely different beasts.

Can you explain, please, what you saw when you had inserted the M.2 for the first time. trying to rule out whether the Samsung M.2 my friend has is faulty or not, because we cannot access this or see any changes after the install, weird, it should just show up in the Home Screen? Thanks for your help.

NGSm Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 I don’t use Spotify very often, however thought I’d give it a go via the Eversolo, and find myself wondering why the display shows PCM 44.1khz and 16 bit?? Curious.

However isn’t Spotify supposed to stream a ‘lossy’ 320kbps, at least until they launch the long-awaited hi-fi CD quality tier? Maybe I misunderstand, not an expert at these things Edited July 13, 2023 by NGSm

Lil Caesar Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 Yes Spotify is lossy but the extrapolation on the Eversolo - decoding, probably does not have a gui mapping to show the 320kbs mp3 source - instead it shows the pcm equivalent it’s sending to the dac / output - 16/44. Not entirely accurate or honest, but it’s what the processing engine is doing. 1

It’s great that the codes for the DMP-A6 are in the database which I have already programmed into my music room for automated activity control and gives me user control over my playlist when playing Apple Music Hi-Res.

I don't know how many units the supplier had to start with but when I ordered mine at about 8.30 am Brisbane time yesterday, there were 20 left. When I checked again around 3 pm, they were sold out.

Dr.Funk Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Has anyone managed to access jRiver from their A6? When I click on SMB the A6 finds my computer which is on the same network as the A6, but then asks me for a username and password, I have neither set on my computer, has anyone got an idea as to what information the A6 wants? Also, I have updated to the latest firmware, but I am not getting an icon for the SSD, which, according to the owner manual is directly under the Storage icon? Thanks
Braddles 63 Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Trying the A6 in the big room as a pre straight into my Parasound. 1
Dr.Funk Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Following on from my previous post. If I put the 4TB SSD into a card reader and plug it in the rear USB input, I can see and play all the files. If I plug the same SSD into the trapdoor underneath, I cannot see the files, what am I missing? Cheers
