Did you get a chance to to retest the onboard DAC .
I currently have the old Node 2 and the Klein DAC also and am looking to upgrade. The eversolo unit looks like its definitely worth a look.

Hi all, just came across this forum while browsing new dacs. Some interesting stuff about the A6 here, been a useful read.
Looking to upgrade my current streaming setup. Currently using WiiM mini into Klein dac ll. Would the A6 be a step up or more of a sideways step. Assume from some comments here that the A6 is a very good streamer for the $$ but maybe the Klein is a better dac.
Anyone had experiences with the 2? Cheers

I am guessing here, sideways step?

Probably better off getting one of Clay's newer used DACs, or a new Kompakt II, or even a Reinigen! We are going OT, so best continuing this discussion in the Gieseler sub forum...

I intend to load and trial the new firmware in the next couple of days (time permitting) and see how it goes.  Hopefully it will resolve a few annoying issues a lot of users have been experiencing with V1.1.80.  Please be aware V1.2.05 is beta test version.  It might have some bugs.

Well what an overwhelming disappointment V1.2.05 beta is for the eversolo DMP-A6. 😞  None of the promised issues like HDMI incompatibility or the muting of the beginning of tracks when skipping tracks and or changing to or from tracks with different sampling or bitrates has been resolved.  If anything it is a lot worse than under V1.1.80.

Another major issue is DSD playback from either DSF, DFF, DST or SACD ISO files.  If you tap on the touchscreen or via the app to display the VU meters it does that but any attempt to switch back to the normal display mutes the music, pauses the playback and locks up the player.  The only remedy is to switch off or reboot the DMP-A6. 🤬

They've also changed how you navigate through your music files.  Under V1.1.80 whilst viewing the normal playing screen that shows the album artwork song progress bar, song title, album title and artist there was an inverted ^ just above the artwork photo.  Tapping this would allow you to step back one level of folders at a time, but not anymore,  Do this under this new firmware and it takes you right back to the home screen.😞  Why? The screen you're on already has a dedicated home screen icon. 🤨  Where's the "smacks forehead" emoticon when you need it?

If you use cast mode this is really going to aggravate you.  It now takes quite a few seconds for changes to appear and commands to be actioned from the eversolo Controller app.

My advice to others who own the DMP-A6.  DO NOT load this new v1.2.05 beta firmware.  It doesn't fix any of the major issues - it makes them worse.   My player is now virtually unusable. 😮‍💨  If only I was able to roll back the firmware to V1.1.80, but also that is apparently impossible.

Since updating the mobile app to V1.11.08 the play queue has disappeared for me!  That was really handy to check how many songs left to play in an album from the comfort of the lounge chair rather than go to the A6 unit to check.  BTW haven't up dated that to V1.2.05.  Now wish I hadn't accepted the update.

Do others have this issue?  Is there a workaround?

OK.  I see now what they've done.  They've removed the button for the play queue from the centre playback page which has the largest album art pic.  However, one can swipe to the page on the left and select 'Album' and it shows all the tracks.  So not a big deal I suppose.

I wish the development team would just concentrate on fixing the issues that are with the V1.1.80 firmware on the DMP-A6 rather than bugger around how you operate the device, adding bling and end up turning it into a shemozzle. 🤬 All the hallmarks of sloppy coding IMHO.  I wonder how many different coders are involved in the development of the various OS / interface modules that aren't working as a team?

BTW, based on my experience don't instal V1.2.05 beta in your DMP-A6 unless you are prepared to reboot and / or power cycle it a lot, especially if you play DSD files of any type.

V1.2.10 is now available for download.  Hopefully this is more stable than V1.2.05 beta.  I'll try to find time to update my DMP-A6 and Controller App and see how this combo performs when I have time to do so.

Unfortunately, the same culture persists though out Zidoo.  The focus is on getting the next features out with speed.  Major bugs will be fixed but minor ones will persist.

If you look at the wider Zidoo forum, you will see many complaints about the niggles.  With media players, it is now having to put up with niggles because there is no alternative.

You can vent here, but there is likely no one from Eversolo to read it. By posting at their forum,  you are more likely to get more users backing you = getting it fixed....

I'm already an active contributor in the Zidoo forums, specifically in relation to the DMP-A6.  The only reason I'm posting here is if some DMP-A6 owners don't already subscribe to that forum and the fact a dedicated DMP-A6 thread exists here.

This was EXACTLY my concerns with this type of "swiss army knife" product, which I alluded to in my post on the first page of this thread:-

I would've wished this was not going to be the case, but as others who actually own the product are now saying it, its a little disappointing.

In the early days, Sonos software was the "north star" of UI - it was simple, everything was intuitive, now their software is bloated garbage in comparison to 10 years ago. I wish these brands adopted the "KISS" principle.

Having upgraded  to the DMP-a6 from the Bluos Node 2i and having spent a few weeks with it now here is my feedback.

The hardware is great, and the audio quality is great for the pricepoint.  Its noticably better than the Node2i.
The DAC is pretty good and for most average listening situations is quite acceptable. It is a little forward and matched with a more laid back system like mine works well. will it kill a 2K + DAC? No.  Being able to store my music library in the unit rather than on the NAS is a big plus as is being able to see whats playing from the front screen.

Not being able to autodetect inputs is a feature I miss from the Bluos. and not being able to switch outputs from the remote is another minor annoyance.

The software IMHO let's the unit down a little. The focus on bling features like an equaliser display in the last update over making simple UI improvements such a theme with bigger buttons and text  and better navigation of albums and artists is a pity.  Why not make the physical volume control switchable so it can be used for navigation? The Apps are actually reasonably good with biggest flaw again being navigation of artists albums and songs. Sure you can search but it's nice to jump straight to "E" and then browse. Navigating back up  a level should be m

ore intuitive. Totally agree with the general sentiment of less is more in the UI. I still remember you squeezebox!

I don't do multichannel or Roon so can't comment  on that. The streaming services  I do use work pretty well as you would expect.

I should also mention that I don't install Beta software on any products my wife is likely to use as that will always end in tears and suffering.

my experience is only on the final release versions. As others have mentioned use the Beta software at your own risk.

In summary. Any product that gets a huge amount of hype is bound to disappoint some people.

Is this a good product for the price? Absolutely. can it be improved? Certainly. With the right focus on UI and software improvements this could be an even better product.

Thanks for this info RR. I came so close buying one of these but then I started seeing people complaining about the bugs and glitches. I decided to buy a nice Luxman DAC instead and stick with a Bluesound Node 2i. Best of both worlds. The BluOS is very slick IMO. The only thing I think I'm missing out on is the Eversolo's display which probably loses it's novelty after a while anyway.

The Luxman NT-07 streamer has been rolled out in Japan...will probably cost around $10K+ here (a stylish device but can't see how it can compete with the new NAD streamer that also runs Dirac).

Back on topic: very disappointing to see the firmware upgrades adding frustration to what initially seemed like an excellent product - what a valuable discussion/thread this has become.

*Below was in response to the new A8 but that post appears to have disappeared....

…yes BUT unless the software issues are addressed I’m not sure there’s a reason to upgrade unless the analogue input is of value to you.  DSP - a massively missed opportunity.  Instead of the proprietary nonsense  and wasted time spent coding a custom solution they should either have approached minidsp for a partnership and/or simply specced hardware to licence Dirac.

THAT would have been worth upgrading for.  HDMI arc and a few other bells and whisltes are too little too late.  And what about wake on LAN ?

…if you expect users to preference their phone or tablet then the software/hardware should allow your to turn the bloody thing on that way.  My Cambridge Audio Evo 150 in the lounge was designed three years ago and even that has wake on lan for wifi.

Ok I’m in the market for a streamer, is this still lagging and should I wait?

Im not sure what I’ll gain with this via an external DAC?

Hi all,

I'm considering ripping my CDs (and maybe even vinyl) to use with my roon setup. I have an Eversolo as my main streamer (into TDA1540 Geisler DAC). I understand that the eversolo has some hard drive space (32 gig?), and before investing in a drive for my NUC Roon Rock setup, I'm considering whether I can rip some CDs to my Eversolo.

Two questions:

1. Has anyone tried just plugging an external CD drive into the Eversolo and ripping CDs directly? If yes, how was your experience?

2. Does anyone know if Roon can spot the drive in the eversolo and access the files via roon for systems in other rooms?

Any other tips around ripping and storing tracks on the Eversolo, particularly in relation to roon would be amazing.

Thanks 😊

The internal memory to which you're referring is not accessible for music storage - it's basically reserved for the 'system".  Installed apps can use it to cache data but you can't copy to that location.  You'll need to use an external usb drive , a network/samba share , NAS or install a flash drive into its internal compartment.

Cool, can you recommend a particular model?

It's not like you'll be running the Optus network with it so they're all going to be pretty much the same. Get a known brand if you prefer but for that size/price they are pretty much disposable.

Another very happy Eversolo DMP-A6 owner here.

I bought mine at the HiFi show a few weeks ago, I'd been eyeing it off for a couple of weeks prior when I first became aware of it after watching a Youtube review (and many others after that initial one)

I had bought a Bluesound Node N130 at last years show, and while it was great to finally be able to play my spotify songs on my system, it was hamstrung by poor WiFi performance in my particular situation.

My network router is at one end of the house and my system is at the other end of the house, and while I have a WiFi extender in the same room as the system the Node was not able to keep a stable connection when trying to play music from Tidal.
It was OK with Spotify, but the higher bandwidth of Tidal just had it constantly buffering and it just wasn't workable.

The Eversolo with it's 3 dedicated external antennas for WiFi etc made me optimistic that it would be better able to connect to my network and have the stability to stream from the higher res services.

The glowing reviews won me over as did its looks and functionality (and those sexy VU meters ... lol)
So that was it ... my mind was made up and I had to have one.

So as soon as I got to the show on the Friday morning I made a B-Line to room 1314 and picked myself up a Master Edition.

To say I'm happy with it is an understatement.
As I had hoped, it connected seamlessly to my WiFi network and is happily streaming hi-res from Qobuz like a champion.

I'm a pretty basic user so a streamer/DAC/Preamp combo all in one unit is perfect for me, the sound is fantastic and puts the biggest smile on my face as I explore a whole new world of music now available to me.
