I have just ordered one not 5 mins ago, plus a 1TB M.2 card.

This is to replace my SB Touch.

Now I have the A6, I was thinking of moving away from Spotify to either Qobuz or Tidal, so the Q is which?

What advantages do they have over each other?

I used to have both, and at least at the time, which was around 12 months ago, Qobuz was better for classical and Jazz, Tidal was better for pop, rock, contemporary in terms of selection, accessibility and suggested playlists etc. I never A/B'd them for SQ, so can't say too much about that

Thanks, that is exactly the kind of info I was after.

Turns out I tried Tidal in 2000 lol, but I still got the 30 day trial.

Agree with Batty. I personally think Qobuz may sound a tad better than Tidal but again as Batty pointed out; with jazz, acoustic, classical choices however Tidal has a more versatile selection of song catalogue and has a more user friendly app. The SQ is even more apparent (in favour of Qobuz) if you use it through Roon. Having said that, I like Spotify for suggested playlists and matching my music taste more than Qobuz and Tidal.

Hey guys, I think some of you need to learn how data transmission works.
There is NO difference is sound quality between Tidal, Qobuz etc. There is no sound signatures with these companies.
The difference you may hear (same song) is how much accurate data is getting through to your system.

Tidal is well known for delivering a consistent level of high quality data transmission (across the globe) and that makes it the most popular platform with audio enthusiasts, but that doesn’t mean everyone is 100% going to get the same results where they live.

what does this even mean?? "accurate data"....

From someone who says "Hey guys, I think some of you need to learn how data transmission works. "..... I think some of you need to learn how internet transmission protocols work...

You do know that we're not talking about a hose here where the bits stream down the 'internet' and into your player some micro-picosend before they hit the DAC? That's not how the internet works

Assuming the exact same data was uploaded to each of these platforms?

There's a rather large section of the audiophile market that openly declared Qobuz sounded better than TIDAL.

Yes.. it's much more likely that there are different mixes on different streaming platforms which may account for differrences, than your "internet" somehow being the thing to blame for any audible difference heard.

I've subbed to Tidal as it's half the price of Qobuz for me, and I quite enjoy the "suggestion algorithm" which it uses for musical discovery - both of thse things are more important to me in terms of enjoying my music over and above raw bitrates.

Has the latest firmware upgrade come through for anyone yet? I am still on 1.2.50

1.2.98 dropped for me this morning although I'm using an A8 (same firmware for both units). I started the box and it was there on the screen waiting for download

yep, mine was doing that . The update was initiated in the boot process rather than checking via the app

Hi.

Ive just purchased some Yamaha NS 5000's and I am awaiting delivery. For my Power Amp configuration, I needed XLR outs. My preamp just doesn't cut it and the A8 looks like the answer to my prayers as I'm going 100% Streaming. I'm no HiFi guru guys ...........this isn't my field. I'm going to run a Bridge connection to get the power from two Onkyo M5000R Power Amps. My question is my living room is very large and has Timber floors etc. A simple handclap reveals the awful acoustics in this room. Does the Eversong A8 have the ability to compensate for this issue: i.e) Room Correction? Is there anyone who may be able to advise a solution?

Hi, I'm considering purchasing the DMP-A6 and have an Anthem 1120 as my main amp. What would be the best way to set up? Is the Eversolo DAC better to use and, if so, should I use HDMI cable or RCA?

Cheers and sorry for the newbie question.

It depends on what sources you have and how you plan to connect them? If you use HDMI from 1120 to A6, you will be using the A6 DAC.  If RCA, then using 1120 DAC.

Also, does ARC (Anthem Room Correction) Genesis make a difference to your setup and room?

Note that you are free to try different combinations and connections, and decide what's best for your setup...

I’m not sure what you mean by what sources I plan to connect. I am looking to connect to my amp using the Eversolo DAC to listen to music.

I saw a demo online where they mentioned that the HDMI connection wasn’t used for this?

I now see the HDMI output provides multi channel, so I just need to change settings in the Anthem to 2 channel?

cheers

With Anthem 1120 I would use digital connection, USB, optical or coax , unless you want to use TV as a streamer screen than HDMI.

Digital connection means that you are going to use the Anthem DAC and streamer will work as a transport only. Basically you can use any streamer with your anthem.

Sources can include BD player, CD player, media player, streamer (if any), both stereo and multi channel sources.  You may get better SQ if you connect stereo sources to the A6?

You did not reply to the question about ARC Genesis.  Are you using it, and if so, does it improve SQ?   The A6 does not have the equivalent.

I have ARC switched off for music. I already have an old Bluesound Node connected, so I really just wanted to check if I connect the same way, and if doing this would use the inbuilt DAC of the Eversolo.
