TROELS GRAVESEN - THE LOUDSPEAKER 3

I built these as a project & now that they’re finished, it’s time for someone to enjoy them.

Here’s a link to the build guide from Troels & his details were faithfully followed in every aspect. http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/The-Loudspeaker-III.htm

The internal cabinet I constructed from 19mm MDF with the front baffle & rear from 25mm MDF & the external cladding is in 19mm Baltic Birch. The birch has 5 coats of clear lacquer, whilst the front baffle I used 5 coats of spray on hammered copper. I have build photos documenting the build process along the way, which I can make available to serious buyers.

Components are as follows:

Bass Drivers - 18 Sound 15 inch - 15W700-8 (8Ω) Woofers
Mid Range - Faital Pro 8 inch - 8PR210 -16(16Ω)
Tweeter - 18Sound NSD1095N(8Ω) & XT1086 (1 inch Compression drivers & horns)

Crossovers utilise Jantzen air core inductors & Jantzen Superior Z Caps / Alumen Z Caps.

All components are essentially brand new & the speakers have only about 10 - 20 hours on them, which was just for evaluation & testing purposes. In the interests of full disclosure, I had an issue with one of the Hypex amps & it was returned to Hypex & replaced.

I also built the passive crossovers for these to run the bass section, (with the design from Troels) so you have the option of running the bottom end active with the Hypex (FA251) or running the complete speaker as a passive version. These were built at considerable expense with over 350uF of Jantzen Cross Cap capacitors, extremely low DCR Jantzen C Coil inductors & Dueland capacitors. These are included in the sale.

For ease of transport, I built them in two sections, the bass & tweeter in one cabinet & the mid range in another.

The dimensions of each are:

Bass/Treble cabinet:  760H x 500D x 450W - Weight: 50Kg

Midrange Cabinet:  280 x 400 x 450 - Weight - 30Kg

Please note that the weight is an estimate only.

The buyer will need to arrange transport or I can deliver them to a transport company of your choice in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.

These speakers would suit someone looking for a new pair, without the hassle of building them. The price is less than the cost of the components required to complete these, but no allowance for building the cabinets. I've also deducted the price of the passive crossovers, but will provide them for the buyer.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Out of interest why are you selling them so soon after finishing?  Seems to me this is quite a bargain, parts would have cost much more than the offered price!

I'm retired now, so this was a project to keep me busy for a while.

Took me about 6 months to complete these, working on & off with them.

You're right, the cost of the components was a lot more than what I'm asking for these, but I have a new sound room & don't really have anywhere to store these, so they need to go.

I've also got plenty of other speakers to listen to, so it's time to reduce the count.
