GC Hifi Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) July Gold Coast HiFi Clubhouse GTG With A Difference Wednesday 19th 5pm to 9pm Yes it is short notice but we have been given the special opportunity to hold a GTG featuring some of the very best high end audiofile cables on the market, including the highly rated flagship $35,000+ Asimi Speaker cables, plus various other Asimi interconnects as well as other high end models in the Atlas range. This is a GTG with a difference being the first mid week evening Gold Coast HiFi Clubhouse GTG. It is to be held on Wednesday 19th July from 5pm to 9pm and Graham Kennedy the Atlas cable importer will be in attendance to answer any questions and provide information. We will have two rooms set up for this evening event. Opportunities like this don't come along very often as few HiFi retailers ever keep in their demo list such high end and expensive cables and I believe it is always a really good thing for any audiophile to actually hear for themselves, rather than just reading about, the differences hign end components can make to a sound system. You don't have to be in the market for such high end cables to enjoy hearing them in action, as I said this is a rare opportunity to hear such high end cables doing what they do. Spots are limited so please either call me or PM me back asap to reserve one of the limited spots, there will be nibbles, plus Pizza and drinks available during the event so those in attendance don't have to worry about missing out on dinner. Our address and other related event details will be supplied along with confirmation of your acceptance by email or PM. Cheers, Terry 0419448452 Edited July 9, 2023 by GC HiFi 5

April Snow Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 (edited) A great night and good turnout along with a brilliant demonstration by Graham which was interesting as it showcased the differences each cable brought to the system. Of course also nice to hear some great music in those fabulous rooms at GC Hifi. Thank you for the hospitality CG Hifi and for a lovely evening. Edited July 20, 2023 by April Snow 3

Kirby66 Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 A big thanks to Terry and Graham for a terrific evening with very well thought out A/B demonstrations which clearly showed the differences between and benefits of the products. The first demo was of Atlas power cables which are only very recently available in AU. Three levels available with a base point reference provided by a standard issue power cable. The improvement from the standard cable to the entry level Atlas was significant and easily heard by all. The top level cable (EOS Superior I think) was another significant step up and based on the indicative pricing Atlas power cables represent excellent value and should do very well. It was also pleasing that Terry chose a capable but affordable system for the first demo rig, simple streaming source and active KEF floor standers - great to hear the improvements that great quality but not overly expensive power and interconnect cables can make in a relatively modest system. There were two standout demonstrations for me ... Firstly the use of the Altas GRUN cable grounding system in the same system as the power cable demo. Basically (and I am no tech-head so basic is all I have) the cables - ethernet, USB etc. - have a 'fly-away' ground cable connected to one end which is then connected to a power plug with just one prong and this earths the cable. Graham explained that it gives the cables XLR type benefits. The demo was really simple ... all cables connected to the one grounding plug - have a listen then plug it into a power board so they're all earthed and listen again. The noise floor drops which to my ears allowed more detail, more of the instrument / voice, better separation in the soundstage. It was a WOW moment. Secondly the amazing Asimi speaker cables. In Terry's main room we listened to the system with the formidable Fyne 704's using Altas Mavros speaker cables first ... everything in GRUN mode ... and it sounded wonderful. Then the boys swapped out the speaker cables for the Asimi's. My goodness just sublime. Not for the feint hearted at $35k but hearing is believing and if you are lucky enough to be in a position to consider $35k speaker cables, and have a system that will do them justice, then you should buy them and invite me over for an extended listen. Terry & Gloria are always wonderful hosts and it was great to have the opportunity to chat at some length with Graham who's been working hard for some time with Atlas to bring their brilliant tech and products down under. 4
