POV Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) Been playing around more and more with the PEQ within Roon for a few of my headphones. I have currently no means of measuring my specific sets so I tend to go to a few trusted sources with standardised measurements (albeit accepting the potential variables this introduces) and build a set of filters from there. This is obviously a fairly unscientific approach but it's been fun to experiment with both 5 and 10 band profiles and I've certainly been able to improve a few headphones. I was curious what was possible with a relatively cheap set so I grabbed a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x from the office and am attempting to improve their sound and listenability. Curious how other go about it, have you invested in a measurement rig for headphones, or do you use measurements from somewhere else? Are you seeking the Harman curve, or something more bespoke and personal? With so many bands and different filter types available the variability of possible approaches seems almost unlimited. Here's my current filter for the ATH-M50x. It's certainly cleaned up the bass boost, reduced the mild sibilance and sharpened the treble which improves detail seperation. But it's sounding a little thin through the midrange for my liking so still mucking about: Edited July 19, 2023 by POV
