mixdownsize Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Tannoy Precision 8 Speakers (Pair) I purchased these as a set from a sound post-production studio liquidation in early 2009. As there were no boxes, paperwork, receipts or invoices included in the sale, I had our studio technician bench and test them. Everything was in good condition. They were always mounted horizontally in our professional studio, climate controlled, smoke-free, pet-free and child-free. This particular system was hardware limited to 70 dBFS, with a quarterly calibration check using ‘Smaart V8’. We used these to monitor stereo radio VO/Narration recording, commercials and promo’s, ID’s etc sound design and mixes. These would be a great purchase for someone who is interested in exploring what Tannoy’s Dual Concentric speakers are like or as an entry level book shelf speaker set. The Precision 8 use the dual concentric design with a difference by using dual concentric paper cone for mid and low frequency reproduction, and the integrated dual concentric 25mm HF titanium-dome tweeter for the higher frequency reproduction, with an additional 25 HF titanium-dome "super tweeter" to take the bandwidth performance out to 51kHz, assisting in time and phase response at the upper end of audibility. They have a good cabinet design incorporating a bass-relex loading, lossy-coupled driver fixing with a 40mm thick contoured front baffle, It’s also magnetically shielded. Condition: All photos were taken in direct midday sunlight to try and give you the best representation of their cosmetic condition. Cosmetic: Good Rear mount drill holes were present when we purchased them. Rear right corner of one cabinet has a 1.2cm bump (Please see photo with metal ruler) Light mark on the right speaker cone (wasn’t noticeable when we were packing up) None of these cosmetic note’s affect their acoustic performance. Electronic: Excellent Each speaker was benched and tested by our studio tech annually. If the buyer would like them shipped, Buyer Pays Packaging, Freight and Insurance: Directly to Pack and Send or other designated and mutually agreed freight packaging and forwarding company within a 15km radius of Baulkham Hills, NSW, 2153. For box packing service, freight costs, full handling and transport insurance including tracking and signature on delivery. Although we have already closed our studios, started downsizing and moving house, I can facilitate a visit to inspect and test them yourself if you are able to bring your own source, small pre and power amp along.
