SOLD ELSEWHERE: Bottlehead Crack OTL tube amp

Further Information: 

 

For sale is my Bottlehead Crack OTL Tube amp. 

 

I bought this from a good friend who built it and it is a match made in heaven with high impedance headphones like Sennheiser HD600/800. I even found it great with Focal Utopias despite their low impedance and high sensitivity.

 

Selling as over the last three years I have replaced many a headphone amp, DAC and streamer but no shoes, shirts and jackets. 

 

This means I am now in the predicament that my clothes are falling apart. Just this once I will prioritise basic human needs over the joy of headphone gear.

 

Contrary to other tube amps I have owned this is very silent with no major hum/buzz - testament to the love and care that was put into the amp’s build.

 

Rear tube is a Chatham 6080 copper post - the most sought after 6080 for the Crack.

 

Front tube is an excellent sounding Brimar 13d5.

 

Comes with another set of tubes so you are all set on tube rolling.
 

Local pickup only due to fragility of items.

Interesting modifications under it?

I spot a CX choke, bigger capacitors.

 

What's going on with this? Looks like an offset shelf was made for these too.

Thanks for your comment! I know my friend spent considerable time and effort upgrading the amp with the best possible parts. The volume pot I believe is of high quality too. I am not an expert on the specs though

Looks good, that cx choke helps with background noise a lot. I had one in mine.

 

Would love to know what that is to the left!

Looking back through old messages I believe my friend did choke, caps and schottky mods (whatever that means ;))

 

On the side I believe is extra support for the caps.
