Dolphy Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Hi All, I tried to use my Oppo today and I was unable to get the drawer to open/close. When I press the open button (remote and physical) I can see that the on-screen open/closing message then I get no disc inserted message. I rarely use the player, most recently I used it to RIP an SACD disk. Would anyone know I can get the player looked at and hopefully repaired? Cheers, Dolphy
ray4410 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 just a suggestion but you could try unplugging the oppo from the wall and leave it for a few minutes for it to reset itself sometimes you may have to do it more than once worth a try good luck.
Dolphy Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it when I get home tonight 1

My Oppo has a similar issue, it won't open or when it does not be able to read the disc. My workaround (before pending repairs) has been to allow it to warm up for a while (or even place it on top of the amp for quicker warm up). Once warm it becomes responsive. Playback is hit and miss, sometimes plays through the whole album, sometimes fails to read tracks (remove disc, shut down, reboot). FILATRONICS Audio in Melbourne said they could service it (and parts are available still) <filatronicsaudio@bigpond.com> 1
Dolphy Posted August 29, 2023 Author Posted August 29, 2023 Neither of the above tips solved my issue. I'll try to find a repairer in Sydney.
David Carey Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Take it to Chris @ Kimil Electronics in Croydon Park. He can fix most things and does so for a fair price. 1
WilliMo Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Thanks to the folks making suggestions about repairers. Based on these comments late last year I took my seven year old Vincent SV 237 in to Filatronics in Melbourne for a service as it was intermittently distorting. Jim at Filatronics recapped it, replaced the valves and whatever other magic he weaves. Several months later it is still functioning like new. Very happy to have the amp back and very impressed with the workmanship. 1
