Very kind Henry

I have a pair of zd5s built by Cheekyboy to the original no compromise "receipe"

I encourage others to build them

They r amazing

I lack every possible skill such a build would require this makes caddisgeek so cruel jibe all the more hurtful

Was going to pass them on to a victim to use in a build

Forget the coils build them

Sorry djb, never intended to be hurtful, just trying to look cool in front of the tough kids

You can never be cool with the caddisfly as your avatar, so passé. :P

What if it's a new species of caddisfly that I discovered?

I'm well aware of that squire! How many years ago was it now??? Hmmm, the word passé again springs to mind. ;)

If you can still get hold of the original Vifa tweeter, don't worry that it's only around $50.00, it's a very good performer in this design, just don't cross it over to the mid woofer too low.

Cheers,

I was recently told not to be concerned about being unable to buy a pair of Zaph ZD 5's instead I should go ahead and build them myself.

But here is the advice from the Zaph site:

This project and article is not recommended for beginning DIY'ers.

By these parts going to an experienced builder, looks appropriate to me.

i think zaph was referring to the investment on the project rather than the difficulties. i dont see any reason why reasonable person with power tools cant make the ZD5.

You can use my Crown amp as a welder

My Krell KAS monoblocks, Krell FPB-600 or ME-1500 should suffice. :P
