Kent10 Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Are these pinouts for my Gustard R26 DAC and Jay's Audio CDT3 MK3 CD Transport the same? I have the 2 connected via a cheap HDMI cable for now and have a better I2S HDMI cable on order. I am wondering if I need to make changes to the pinout configuration on the Jay's. Thanks, Kent Gustard DAC Jay's Audio CDT3 MK3 CD Transport
muon* Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 If they were incompatible they wouldn't work.

It does work but I am getting sound from the opposite speaker compared to my Sony CD player connected via Optical Output. So I thought maybe the HDMI I2S pinouts might be different in some way.

bob_m_54 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 This may be the source of your L R channel being reversed, with the LRCK (Left Right Clock) switches 5,6,7 & 8 allowing you to define the polarity of the wordclock, and similarly switches 1,2,3 & 4 defining the data polarity. But you will need to confirm the operation of the I2S data and clock switches with the manufacturer.. 1
Kent10 Posted September 10, 2023 Author Posted September 10, 2023 Thanks Bob. Yes that is what I was wondering. I am getting a new I2S HDMI cable in 2-3 weeks. I'll see what that does and also contact the distributor in the US who might have some ideas. There are switches in the Jay's so maybe I can do that.

From your diagrams, to match polarity, the dip switches should be A on and B off ie. 2,4,6,8 ON, 1,3,5,7, OFF 1

If they are opposite right now, what would the affects on sound be? Thanks.

What would the sound difference be? ummm not 100% sure, but I think the channels would switch over at least. The thing is, that's what your Gustard is expecting, according to the pinout diagram you posted.. Try it and see, it won't do any damage. 1
