EXPIRED “Persuasion” - 6AS7/5998 SET power amp.

Further Information: 

A very, very regrettable sale. An extremely beautiful sounding tube amplifier. But with limited storage space and already too many tube power amps one has to go. This one is made for the 5998 power tube. If you have never heard this tube and and think its just another variant of a 6AS7 you are wrong. It has far more detail and transparency which comes with a far more expensive tube. 
 

You can roll 6AS7s and 6080 tubes. The driver tube is a new Sovtek 12AX7 but any 12AX7 equivalent or 12AU7 can be rolled. With a U7 there is a little less gain and a more mellow sound. The choice is yours. The interstage caps are Mundorf Supremes. The power tranni is a Hammond and the OPTs are Edcor sprayed black. The top plate is sprayed with epoxy enamel the timber base finished with a Scandinavian rubbing oil. There is no bottom plate but the amp is less than 1cm of the deck. The power tranni is isolation mounted on rubber grommets to control vibration and the top plate is 2mm Al for resonance control. The amp is fused and earthed. 
 

It uses SS rectification and triple Pi filtering with additional filtering in the driver stage.  Noise is less than 1mV. With my system it is absolutely dead quiet at the speakers. There is no shielded wire used to dull the sound and all hookup wire is solid core Cat5. 

Higher efficiency speakers than normal will be required for good volume depending on type of music played and listening levels. My speakers are 92db and play way loud enough for me with jazz female and male vocals and melodic rock. The amp produces a clean 2W but can be considered a 5W amp. 

Acoustic instruments, male and female voice come through with striking transparency and clarity. Sound stage is deep and wide and feels 3D. Bass is extended (down to 30hZ in my system). Detail is very rich and draws you right in to the music. Happy to demo, shipping included.

Input impedance? And is set for 8 ohms and can it be changed to 16 ohms?.

100K input impedance. 8ohm output cannot be changed to 16.

 

Comes with NOS NIB Svetlana 6AS7 ( 6H5C - 1 hour only on the tube) and new Sovtek 12AX7W.

Absolutely. Bring your music on a USB stick or CDs. But I stream and have a Persuasion demo prepared. Time and day? What is the sensitivity of your speakers?

From the original build the interstage caps have been upgraded to Mundorf Supremes and the current power tube is NOS NIB Svetlana 6AS7. This tube performs in the same class as a 5998.
