Bill_F Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Bought from an authorised retailer in mid-July 2023, so heaps of warranty left (I'll include the invoice). The cables and tips are of similar or newer vintage. Reluctant (painful, even) sale: love the sound! Ironically, while Sennheiser's IE series is praised for the comfort and ergonomics of their shells, their relatively short, 5mm nozzles mean that I can't get a decent fit with any tip that I've tried. Details over on @Bengineer's General IEM & DAP chat forum. Thanks, @DrTobiasFunke, for convincing me to give up my IE900 dreams and stop throwing money at this IEM. I'm not splitting this bundle for now, sorry. Here's what you'll get: AS-NEW SENNHEISER IE900, WITH ALL PACKAGING, DOCUMENTATION, AND ACCESSORIES [I paid $1,919, but they're on sale now at A2A for $1,600] Aftermarket googley eyes not included NULL AUDIO ARETE SERIES MKV CABLE W/ IE-SERIES COMPATIBLE CONNECTORS [I paid $190 shipped] This cable is 1.2 meters, pure copper Litz 5 configuration, with custom connectors that fit better than stock (no swivel). The sheathing is supple, the earhooks have just the right amount of give, and the construction is excellent, with strain relief on the anodized 3.5mm SE termination. I wasn't expecting this as a cable agnostic, but, for me, it does mellow the IE900's sound just a touch. I looks terrific and drapes well, but not as well as the beefier GUCraftsmen cable. GUCRAFTSMAN 5N OFC COPPER & GRAPHENE CABLE W/ CUSTOM MMCX CONNECTORS [I paid $101 shipped] This cable sounds sparklier; closer to stock. I like its heft: while less elegant than the NA cable, this one drapes better thanks to its greater mass. It's also about 1.2 meters, and terminated with a reassuringly chonky L-style 3.5mm SE plug. In my quest to try to achieve a fit with the IE900s, I removed the shrink wrap earhook from the left side, so you'll probably want to (carefully) do the same to the right side. Sorry about that! I have priced this in. 16 PAIRS OF AFTERMARKET TIPS, 5mm Bores [I paid $41 for the Complys & $20 for the silicon] Edited October 1, 2023 by Bill_F 1 1
ColdsnapBry Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Nice deal! I picked up the ie900 for $1,499 on their sale and thought I was getting away with a good deal. I've also replaced the cable and tips. So if anyone is in the iem game, get this! Bill's done the footwork to make these endgame worthy. Edited September 29, 2023 by ColdsnapBry 1

I really, really hate to see these go and downgrade to the Shure SE846, but what the ear anatomy demands, the ear anatomy gets. Sigh...
