GregWormald Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) There is no connection to an external amp that I can see. It appears that there are inbuilt speakers under the t/table, so RIAA and all amplification is already done. They even call them "record players". OP—you could try connecting the player directly to your speakers although you would have to disconnect the receiver first (mandatory!). If that works then a couple of switches to change from player to receiver wouldn't be expensive. I don't know how volume control would be managed—maybe by the bluetooth? audiofeline Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Isn't the output from a ceramic cart similar to line level and somewhat close to RIAA output to be able to use it without a phono stage (that's required for mm or mc carts)?

Yes and no. The output of crystal/ceramic carts was quite variable. You had to choose one that matched the gain of your amplifier in lots of small record players, when replacing one. The other problem is that, while the voltage may be similar, they required a high impedance input. Feeding one onto a typically lower impedance line input will result a poor sound with very little bass. 1
