Just a quick question whether anyone had any talk life experience with these speakers? I've been looking at them for a while and currently they're as affordable as they're ever gonna get- but- most critics say that you need the right recordings and the right èquipment match to make it with your while. Does anyone agree/disagree? Any info would be appreciated.

I am listening to a pair now that have maybe 60 hours on them.

They sound pretty amazing for the price.

In a land of mega priced top of line speakers,  these Polk are a breath of fresh air for stunning performance without the stupid stunning prices.

They sound excellent without the SDA cables connected  - more 3d spacious with.

To answer your question.  I don't find these speakers critical of recordings. Better recordings sound better, however average recordings sound pretty good.  The ring radiator tweeter is detailed but super smooth.

Bear in mind I am listening to pretty expensive application in a large room,  however all that implies is that the speakers have the ability to scale to higher performance with high end amplification.

In the shop,  they sounded impressive enough with class D Marantz amplification with a Node streamer.

I certainly do not have their positioning fine tuned yet.  Based on a short listening window , (but longer than some reviews I have read ) if these continue to impress over the next 10 days, they are giant killers.

Appreciate the response-

I'll probably be running mine with class A solid state or tube monoblocks... am wondering how that will go.

Unfortunately I cant translate the website you've referenced - but I am definitely going to sound demo in the next couple of days.

Out of interest did you invest in the atmos top speakers for the kit?

Use google translate  -  works great.

I am two channel only. I believe the Atmos top speaker is for multichannel / theatre?

Yes it is... I can see the value in it from a home theatre sense.

We were running these in store with the Marantz Model 30 integrated amplifier and have been really impressed by them. They throw quite a large soundstage in both width and height, even more so with the SDA cable connected. I wouldn't say they are overly sensitive to needing the right recordings to sound great, better recordings will of course sound fantastic, others will still sound pretty good.

Happy to answer any other questions you have on them. We took on all the remaining stock of the Legend series, so have a few pairs left of the L800's in Black + Walnut and also the matching L900 Atmos modules.

May be a slightly stupid question- but from what I understand of the SDA mechanics- will the cancellation effect actually work if I use monoblocks? I've yet to see any reviews using monos.
