powerav Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 You can also use Apple TV as headless system I suppose they call it. I set up my harmony remote with a Apple Atmos button so it turns on Apple TV and Integra 3.4 and power amp of course and I have atmos music without the projector on.

Build quality is good but of course not up to the standard of my Denon AVP-A1HD. It ticked most of the boxes on my wish list, especially the XLR outs for front LCR and built in Dirac Live. ATM I only have a 7.2 setup but the addition of 4 ceiling Atmos speakers is in the planning stage. I use a March Audio P422 to power my Front LR speakers. Expand What’s been the experience with the DRX-8.4 over the past couple of months? And, specifically, has it bee free of bugs? The reason for the questions is that I’m after an AVR around which to expand a stereo setup to 5.1 for A/V and, like you, it appears to tick a lot of boxes. Roon ready, enough power to drive surround speakers, XLR outputs and DLBC. It does limit me to 2 subs but I’m constrained for space in our shared room. The only doubts relate to stability (as it doesn’t appear to have a large number of users) and question of Dirac ART (but hopefully that will be supported as it’s Integra’s flagship AVR).

Expand I've been pleasantly surprised with the stability of the Integra. I added 4 height speakers so now have 5.2.4 with the Integra powering the height speakers and my Elektra Theatre HD 5 channel and Reference HD 2 channel handling the base speakers. The Integra has no problems getting the whole system to ear bleeding levels. I'm sure it would be capable of powering a 5.1 system to reference levels by itself without power amps. The Dirac DLBC is a game changer for me. It far surpasses the Audyssey I had on the Denon and is easy to tailor to your own preferences. Being able to control all parameters through your browser is a huge advantage. It's interesting to be able to use Dirac for music and compare with my 2 channel system that uses ROON with MUSE for EQ. I'm still not sure which I prefer so I tend to change from one setup to the other depending on how I feel. Certainly, for an AVR, the Integra does music well. The Integra has 2 fans that come on when it's working hard but I have NEVER heard them while in use which did surprise me (pleasantly). Build quality is excellent for the price. As for your specific question, the only glitch or bug I have noticed is very occasionally Prime Video has no sound when switching from one program to another. This hasn't happened with Netflix, TV+ or the Oppo player. I had this happen 3 times over the last 3 months and had to unplug and replug the Integra to resolve the issue. I'm not sure if it's a HDMI handshake issue or something else. It's not a concern really but I thought I should mention it. Overall I am very happy with the Integra and would recommend it to any potential purchaser. Yes, I would buy it again if choosing an AVR. 3
a.dent Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 This Audioholics review of the Onkyo TX-RZ70 will put a smile on the faces of fellow Integra DRX-8.4 owners. https://www.audioholics.com/av-receiver-reviews/onkyo-tx-rz70-1 I've been really impressed with the Integra's performance since installing it and now I know why. 3
adam0bmx0 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Yup, great to see it perform so well, I have the Integra 8.4 mated to a Tonewinner AD-7300 7-channel amp, probably don't even need the amp after those bench test results!

It looks like the 5 channel Elektra is unnecessary from the review. 1
siLTru Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 (edited) Hi , I'm thinking of buying Integra DRX 8.4 as my AVR with a power amp (Nord One NCx500 3CH 3 Channel power amp) via XLR to drive LCRs. My biggest selling poitns were these XLR outputs for LCR which I can use with Nord amp, Dirac live and saving of about $2k compared to similar 11 channel receivers from Marantz/Anthem etc. Now, I have couple of questions before making a decision. - How much you expect (150w stated 2 channel driven, is it RMS? ) when you say driving all channels except the LCRs. I will be driving the heights and surrounds (7.2.4) with Integra. - Is Auro-3D upgrade already been rolled out? - Is there 2 sub unbalanced outs other than 2 balanced subs out? I see in the picture A and B in SW1 and SW2 section. In the reviews it stated only 2 independent sub outs. I need only 2 for the moment though. - What is the main drawback or missing feature you have been having comparing to other brands? Edited October 31, 2024 by siLTru
a.dent Posted October 23, 2024 Author Posted October 23, 2024 1. You will have plenty of power to run your surrounds and height speakers. Exactly how much would be hard to say but adequate would be a term that comes to mind. 2. Auro 3-D was made available with a firmware update some time ago. I like it personally. 3. There are 2 balanced sub outs and 4 unbalanced sub outs. 2 of the unbalanced outs are duplicates of each balanced out. So you can connect 4 subs (or even 6) but they are really 2 pairs. 4. I run a 7.2.4 setup and haven't had any misgivings about buying mine. I don't know what else you would need. 1
adam0bmx0 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Not sure what's happened, but my Integra 8.4 won't recognise any wifi network....... zero load up to select when it's trying to find a network...... Not sure where to start, a factory re-set might fix it, or it could be an issue with my router end. My Anthem MRX740 is still on the same wifi network though with no issues......

Expand Try restarting the modem. Is it a 2.4GHz? Does your router has 5GHz? Then, you can connect to one of the other ones. May be, sometimes too many devices are connected (possible nowadays) it will cause congestion. Edited October 31, 2024 by siLTru

Antho Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Hello everyone, Having trouble accessing through my receiver under TV/OSD the 4k/8k format for (TV) setting. It says via manual that by default it should be on 4k enhance. On my unit it's grayed out. I'm using an LG G4 TV. I'm using a 48GB HDMI. I have it connected via (eARC) I have my TV hooked up via (MAIN) input on receiver. Can anyone confirm whether this is normal? Thanks!
