You have way too many "toys" al - too many for only one person.

I need to talk reason  to your missus ( and offer to mind some while you sort out the dynamics!)

hehe she is very understanding evil, as long as one box goes, when a new one enters the house and box count and the balance is always maintained :D

theres nothing new here you know that dont you...just some old stuff that I just keep polishing away to keep like looks like new and keep re arranging. some stuff goes in boxes and other stuff comes out AGAIN...and yeah now and then some stuff does come to visit...but it never stays right...has to go back and all that ..marital bliss...yes happy wife and all that :)

You seem to live in a parallel universe - upper echelon drool worthy gear with minimal limitations on expenditure yet - - -

You won't wall mount your T/T through some irrational fear of spousal disapproval!

edit: That Tascam intrigues me with vinyl recording possibilities - have a few for you to try copying!

So this is what happens when get the "7 year itch" ....

imageproxy.php-30.jpeg

and then you pay tivoli a visit and come back with one of these !

imageproxy.php-31.jpeg

and inside an ARC PH6 ...ofcourse its silver...or as ARC calls it "Natural" anything other than Silver would be un-natural ... right ? hehe

imageproxy.php-32.jpeg

if wanting black can always check out its backside :D

and ofcourse in true ARC fashion, you have to fit the supplied valves yourself ! forcing you to get upclose and personal with its insides  ;)

imageproxy.php-33.jpeg

and soon installed and up and going...

apparently as per the supplied note, fully run-in .... in 600 hrs :o but will report back some early impressions :)

After a few nights listening ...Some early impressions.... The arc ph6 tube pre is all the ph5 I had ...and more.... :D

And the great news is It has all the traits of sound of the arc ph5.. Which is great since Its a sound I loved ...

But brings with it to my ears a much lower noise floor, better dynamics, better resolving power and detail, and a more enveloping sound stage ( though this aspect perhaps a little more subtle to detect). Am pretty amazed actually the benefits arc have brought forth with what using similar platform, some circuit changes and utilising different tubes in the ph6

Listening to closer to the music vol 1

post-125306-0-40761000-1400843041.jpg

What is abundant is the lovely way delicate details are portrayed, the way voices are FULL BODIED, yes full strength here... No watered down, weak sounding rendition.

Listening to st germain tourist

post-125306-0-95171300-1400843216_thumb.

The Montego Bay spleen track, is portrayed 3 dimensionally, room filling and the the bass line is resoundingly driven forth.

And this is just with a few nights on and long way to go in run in...can't wait to see how it settles in and matures in sound....

...ps ....a further goodie is yet to arrive in the system :D ETA Sunday afternoon at this stage ....I can't wait...very excited....have been waiting for this one a little while hehe

What a setup. Mine is so pedestrian it's depressing opening this thread haha :( Tourist is a great album, I've not listened to it in years! Glad you are enjoying the new purchase man, I bet it sounds magic.

Thank you cryptik,

Hehe was no intention sending someone into depression :D

Yeah very much enjoying, what love is the ph6 hasn't been a departure from the ph5 with the fluidity, almost organic nature with which music seems to flow forth, way handles delicate sounds I love, and yet still has the clout with dynamics, love the way sounds seem to spring forth from inky blackness too. The arc phono states definitely my favourite, am glad able to make some gains forward here with this upgrade and yet not loosing what loved with my previous phono stage :)

Omg...... can i move in.... I love it

Hehe not sure about moving in, but welcome to to visit :D

thankyou Roh, already have the bedroom system :D

..it will still best most peoples first system!

hehe, no usually when one box comes another has to go. The previous amp I bought from Carlton audio visual also all those years ago so they were very good in change over with trading it in :)

I do have the odd disc player surplus though...that have been reluctant to turn over...so planning to list at least one of them soon :)

Question Al, are you able to home demo this gear or do you get them to hook them up to speakers similar to yours at CAV and Tivoli?

Posted

Roh wherever possible I do home demo though in some cases do also take a punt. I do also listen in shops and you will find dealers like CAV and Tivoli are happy to let you home demo, but then have been customer of either of them for decades ! that said many dealers will do this now, my lovely Divas were home demoed to make sure , the elektra theatre 7 I found out how good it was when frankston hifi let me take one home to check out. Audio Trends I know walking in there at one stage off  the bat the guy there was happy for me to take home to check out :)
