pulinap Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I always had a soft spot for MF gear even I am a converted valve head... My first 'real' hifi amp was Arcam FMJ A32...very nice amp till I bought a MF CR308 and subsequently a Nu-vista power amp.....you'll understand what power and headroom is all about (pumping 600w @ 4Ω)... MF amps can grab most speakers by the balls.... Enjoy....... :thumb:3
betty boop Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Wow cannot believe how much that looks like my Vincent. really ? can't think of which model I always had a soft spot for MF gear even I am a converted valve head... Just a gorgeous system, I particularly love the duel velodynes, they'll have UMPHF! thankyou
avalon27 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 very nice al. still think that the pioneer plasmas have the best picture. how are you finding the M8? 1

Cody Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Some great additions over the years there Al, awesome stuff So did the big Sony 9000 get the chop? Interested to hear what you thought of it vs the 5400 1
Guest Muon Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Geez! I need to catch up on some of these threads, some nice gear arriving is those boxes
betty boop Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Some great additions over the years there Al, awesome stuff So did the big Sony 9000 get the chop? Interested to hear what you thought of it vs the 5400 thankyou Cody, good to see you around. and gee it has been long time no see ! no no no…the mighty sony 9000es did not get the chop…it was close…got taken out of the rack took some pics of it for sale, but handling it my goodness what a piece of class the thing is. couldn't bear putting up for sale. its a beautiful player and instead of selling off it moved into retirement in the bedroom system instead. there is something very special about this player, while it lacks the warmth of my mf a5cd or the luxman, it has an incredible fluid lucid sound with no hold back on detail and imaging. lovely player and very few players these days build and made like it unless spending silly money you still got you 9100es ? the 5400 I found a mixed bag, yes works does the job, I ran it off rca and balanced and to be honest I really don't think its in the league of the 9000es, the 5400es one saving grace is its hdmi and capable of multichannel audio that way…but then my cambridge 751BD just as capable that way so couldn't see keeping the 5400es and it went on ... Geez! I need to catch up on some of these threads, some nice gear arriving is those boxes thankyou am working on a long term review on the m8 500s…just need some time to pull together as something been very much enjoying in last few months and talking about boxes…
Guest Muon Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Sweet, mate I had a quick look, and fully balanced hay, very nice!
betty boop Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 yes theres been another box... but this doesn't get a spot in the rack Am not totally convinced... while it looks pretty spectacular gaming on the big projector screen with full surround sound experience etc ... the games themselves are pretty pox ! haven't gone back to need for speed since first got it. amazing since spent many hours on it when had it as a game on the PC. same with wolfenstien ..yawn ! only game found pretty decent so far is the sniper elite 3 and thank goodness for that or the whole kit and caboodle would have been up on ebay already !
blybo Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 You need a steering wheel and stand... ;-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD 1
illusion Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Al I love your system, but I'm even more in awe of those gorgeous doillies. 1
betty boop Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 You need a steering wheel and stand... ;-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD hehe I did have one when I had the pc rig, quite a nice steering wheel and especially with Need for speed. to be honest the whole feel of NFS on the ps4 just doesn't feel right. too arcade like. whats a good wheel for ps4 I wonder. still trying to find a decent driving game
betty boop Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Al I love your system, but I'm even more in awe of those gorgeous doillies. thankyou illusion hehe the doilies the doilies… ..fortunately there is but one ah but that is the waf…wife acceptance factor … it is a must … to address the balance. wife has her own way of taking care of these kind of things. when I got the velo DD15 on the left…it was balanced by spending on curtains around the house. fine sort of balance that was ! more like reparations 2
illusion Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I totally understand Al, when Mrs illusion put a doillie on top of my subwoofer that was the last straw. The HiFi is now a type of 38th parallel, a no go zone for her.

To play F1 well you really need a steering wheel too. The G27 is the best affordable wheel ($350 ish new) which is what I'm selling, then there is a Fantec IIRC which up around $800. Supposedly Forza on Xbox is the best driving game but I've never played it. You are more than welcome to try out the wheel stand combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk thanks for the offer blybo, the ps4 seems the fly in the ointment though, just reading up looks like neither logitech or fantec are supported for the ps4, none of those games seem available for ps4 either ! see what I mean re the ps4 .... its giving me the irits ! hehe
jt301 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I've only just read this thread and wow, what a seriously nice set up have. I've gone a distinct shade of 'jealous' green.

Was there a HT reason for the purchase? If not I'd seriously consider the Xbox One, most gamers say the Xbox has always been the better gaming platform. I only bought the PS3 in the first place to get a BD player... and to play Gran Tourismo I'd also consider moving on my PS3, it just doesn't get used. I'll buy a current console when my girls are a bit older. 1

I dont tend to hang onto stuff just for sake of it. in the driving games apparently "drive club" is a good thing, still not released yet...lets see..
evil c Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Some of us have moved on - (grown up) @ al
Jone5y Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Are you primarily interested in racing sims @ al ? if not, Watch Dogs, The last of us and the latest Tomb Raider installment have been well reviewed and might be worth a look. As for me, I'm trying to find a way to create some more time in which i can resume playing my PS2, to lay the groundwork for 'needing' a PS4. Sounds like i needn't be in a rush though.
betty boop Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Some of us have moved on - (grown up) @ al hehe, nothing wrong with old in mind...young at heart...or other way around perhaps I too have moved on from some of these why not really doing it for me ! but yeah just have some different memories on the pc versions... Jone5y Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Yeah, no backwards compatibility seems like a huge downside. Very few people who are buying a PS4 are buying their first playstation 2

Or often just myself with wife kids sometimes joining in, kicking back to enjoy some tunes...definitely a space we very much enjoy valve got my attention 1
