ronnybee Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 I was given a kenwood amp KRF5290D and a LG V9120W cd player running Yamaha ns344 8 ohms 70 watt speakers. Just added a WiiM pro plus streamer to the aux port. Wanting to add a preamp turntable but dont know what ports to connect on amp or cd?
Mrkropotkin Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 If you mean that you have a turntable with built in pre amp then any input will work. Start with the AUX 1
ronnybee Posted December 26, 2023 Author Posted December 26, 2023 The aux is used for the WiiM streamer.
Mrkropotkin Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Use the next one along, if that's being used also move to next one which is designated Play in. Not the Rec out.
ronnybee Posted December 26, 2023 Author Posted December 26, 2023 Thankyou very much for your help. Being a hifi first timer I appreciate your help. 1

Start with the AUX Expand A 'turntable' generally needs to be plugged into a 'phono stage'. This: 1. amplifies the tiny signal from the cart to line level - so it can be plugged into a (line-level) preamp. and 2. applies an RIAA signal correction, to compensate for the way the signal is recorded in the grooves. Some (of the cheaper) TTs have this built in; most TTs ... don't. Edited December 27, 2023 by andyr 1
mharvan Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 if your turntable has a builtin pre amp you can connect to any high level line input like a tape input or aux or the CD/DVD. if your turntable does not have a builtin pre amp you need to pick up a phono preamp Pyle makes a really good one for $25 us. plug your turntable into that then plug that into your receiver. Don't forget to connect the turntable ground or you'll get a lot of hum.
AvSat44 Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 If you don't want to buy on line, go to a Jaycar store. They have a couple of cheap entry level phono stages for you to look at. They also have retailers that distribute their wares in the regions. Have a look at their website or chose the one closest to you and call them. Cheers.
