VanArn Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Repairing a B139 is possible providing the area of the expanded polystyrene cone adjoining the voice coil has not collapsed with age. You can check for this condition by removing the magnet which will also allow you to inspect the voice coil to establish what has happened to it. The flexible braided wires that provide the connection to the voice coil can also go open circuit. Used B 139,s turn up from time to time and there is the option of buying new replicas from Falcon Acoustics Co. in the U.K.
xlr8or Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Yes, Falcon Acoustics in the UK would also be my recommendation for purchasing a new pair to replace the existing B139s in both speakers. Also, you can try reaching out to the Speaker Hospital in Condell Park NSW for repairing the existing B139. 1

It would take a competent tech 2 mins to fix. 26 minutes ago, xlr8or said: Yes, Falcon Acoustics in the UK would also be my recommendation for purchasing a new pair to replace the existing B139s I disagree. They would cost more that the the Concertos are worth and would be well below the quality of the original drivers. In fact I would give any of the Falcon Acoustics stuff a wide berth. I would if the original driver is assessed as being US pick another secondhand unit, however, they were so well made it would have to have been a significant event or mistreatment to render it unrepairable.

Antipodean Brad Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I know that this is off-topic and not really helpful, but some years ago Wilson Audio tried to buy up all the available B139s in the world (If I recall correctly). They managed to get hold of a huge cache of the things. Good luck with your repair. 1
jonesie Posted January 11, 2024 Author Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Greedy bastards. I have found one that is supposed to be working. Total recoil have also said they can more than likely repair the one I have. So I’m starting to horde B139s as well! Thanks for your tip. Edited January 11, 2024 by jonesie
