deniall Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Just got my RP3, Brio-R and Benz MC Silver all set up. It's sounding really really good. Very happy with this combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
deniall Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Just got myself a Groovetracer Reference subplatter and TT-PSU. Really enjoying the improvement. Great little decks these Regas. 3
Newman Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 ... a run out of just 2 thou on a 30 + yo TT is pretty damn good I think. Now put a record on it and spoil the whole illusion of accurate centring.

Ricardo Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Just upgraded my cart to a Denon 301 Mk2 and couldn't be happier! Makes my slightly modded Rega Planar 3 sing like it has never before. I have modded it with a Michael Lim belt, subplatter, top brace and underslung counterweight. Also incognito internal rewiring and Funk Firm Achroplat 2. 2
jaba010 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) These ones go OK ..............! Edited November 7, 2014 by jaba010 1
Briz Vegas Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 So........when is there going to be an RP 11. Everyone knows the rock legend about going to eleven. Just to shoot down my own dad joke, i think I would go to a Well Tempered Amadeus myself. Not enough records to justify one at this point.

jaba010 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 So after a couple of days with the Rp10 / Apheta combo all can say is this thing is clean & crystal clear, but still with a great bottom end response. I thought my Rp6 / Ortofone 2M black combo had a good sound but the Rp10 just takes it to another level. At present it is running through my Music Fidelity M8-pre phono stage, which I am finding remarkably good for an integrated phono stage. Obviously MF have bolted some fairly good components into the M8 phono stage? 3

Have you speed tested it for accuracy?

Obviously MF have bolted some fairly good components into the M8 phono stage? great to hear ! the rp10 is one sexy looking deck ! with my last 2 mf pre amps in the m8 and my previous a5cr pre both have found very decent phono stages built in. The uk brands in mf, rega, arcam, cyrus and the like typically dont scrimp on the phono stages they build in their amps in my experience so am not suprised your pleased with how its all working

No speed tests, just sitting back enjoying it all. I really haven't looked it over in detail to check the build quality........too excited to just get it plugged in & playing! I will look closer in due course but quality looks good from first glance. Edited November 9, 2014 by jaba010 2
ophool Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Very nice looking setup Jaba, I'm sure there will be many fine tunes in its future. Came across this rather interesting rig and though it worth including in this thread.
captain.j Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Well thank a lot Jaba, now I reall, really want one! Trouble is I had planned to upgrade my phone stage first. I'm sure the RP10 deserves an appropriate phono stage, commensurate with its quality. I was going to look at a Graham Slee or perhaps wait for the new Perreaux to come out later this year. Regardless, I've got some saving to do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
jaba010 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The more I get to listen to this unit, the more I am impressed with the sound it is producing.......... oh so clean & defined........ and I am not even running it through any flash phono stage at present! 1
Candyflip Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 About 555gm according to my kitchen scales. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Nice scales! Where do I get me one of them?
deniall Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Got my Edwards Audio "Little Belter" the other day and I have to say, I'm impressed. The speed has noticeably improved and everything seems just a bit cleaner overall. I'd really like to get a test record and compare with the standard belt but that'll have to wait a while. 3
troikken Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I received my RP40, BRIO-R and Monitor Audio Silver 8's yesterday. I'm extremely impressed with the sound and I'm once again happily reunited with Aretha Franklin singing the blues! 5
dwbasement Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Very nice setup @@troikken. I can guarantee you will be even more impressed in the future if you change to a better cart like a 2m bronze or black or similar. Plus extra alive if you use tubes... I found rega tt gives much better sound when matched with tubes amp. I used to have ss amp with my rega but once I tried tubes and that's it, no turning back. 1
Ricardo Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Was it easy to fit the underslung counterweight? Illusion it was very easy! I'm no tech head and even I could do it. It was the most dramatic improvement I made. Very happy with what I have.
steve-waters Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 @@troikken - little off topic but are you still pleased with the Brio driving the Silver 8's? Does it push or you think they need a bit more? I have the 2's but want more sound and like Monitor Audio Silver. Cheers Steve
captain.j Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 So a couple of questions for all you Rega experts out there. I'm in Len Wallis Audio talking to a salesman about the ease of setting up the Apheta2 on a Rega tone arm (RB2000), three bolts and bob's you're aunty. Then he started saying it wasn't that simple and that I had to bring in my turntable and he then pulled out this metal gizmo with a hole and a swinging arm and some graduations and said he had to set it up otherwise the sky would fall in and all my records and stylus would be ruined. Really? So I go home and have a close look and sure enough, there is a small amount of lateral play even with the three bolt system. But isn't it just a case of picking the middle and tightening them up? Unless you intentionally twist the cart as much as possible before tightening up the bolts you can't really go wrong can you? Second question, this bloke also suggested removing the centre bolt after the thing was set up to reduce the weight at the end of the tone arm. Anyone here agree with that theory? And before you ask, I didn't just take my table in for the full treatment for a couple of reasons. 1, I don't like carting my turntable around in the car(150km each way) and secondly he wanted to charge me $150 more than my preferred dealer in Brisbane who popped an Apheta2 in the post for me. Cheers
betty boop Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 if not doing it yourself then get someone to do for you. mine was setup on my p9 when it was personally delivered to my home. kinda service you get with a p9. carts do need to be aligned on tables... if thinking about the dimensions involved and precision needed have a look at how tiny the tip on your cart is ....
