Administrator StereoNET Posted January 10, 2024 Administrator Posted January 10, 2024 The total number of members who submitted new content, followed something, or reacted to something on the community in the specified time period: Who has received the most "likes" etc over the last 10 years: (Region only recorded since 2021) Note the COVID spike (followed by an unusual dip? I wonder if that concides with lockdowns ending?): PM stats: All just FYI of course ... What is encouraging is that StereoNET forums have weathered the birth and rise of social media platforms where sadly, many other forums have died across many industries. The stats show that SN is still as healthy and active as ever, and we hope to see that trend continue for the next decade. I personally won't stop evolving the community and driving it forwards. 8 3
Guest Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Quite surprising the Device Usage. I prefer forum interacting on a Desktop myself, but wouldve thought tablets would be a much bigger % considering its a "similar" layout...
Guest Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 I've never considered the forums "mobile friendly" and have spent a small fortune on failed "app" development a few times now. The (wider) website stats indicates a 50/50 split across the Mobile/Tablet vs Desktop, but the forums are definitely skewed towards desktop use. The good news is we do have app plans in place for this year once the new platform launches (Q1 we believe). 3
Neo Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Curious to the stats of who’s online in the last decade trends, as it seems the member rates have declined and guests have increased. Neo
RCADees Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Thank you for sharing your data Marc, great insight into your site. I found this Device Usage graph super interesting. I would have no idea if this can be related to demographic, but the fact that so many of us here take the time to sit down, open up the laptop or desktop and dive into Stereonet says a lot about how serious we are about this hobby. Or how we think as a group interested in a particular field. Sure, some here may spend more or less time and would access Stereonet for various reasons, but as Marc says above, the site continues to move and be very much alive in a world which does not sustain sites for very long indeed. It is certainly not a passing fad or a mindless thing we do, but rather a collective place in which are actually invested into in various degrees. We seem to be living in a very fast world in which we are not invested in many things anymore. It is marvelous to see that Stereonet is one of those things we seemed to be enjoying and we are invested in. Congratulations on this 20th anniversary. 1

Neo Expand Once upon a time the cookie kept the session active, or at least, recorded someone online for up to an hour. Now I believe it's 15 mins at most, so you would see the "members" online number go down as a result. "Guests" online has always been over 1,000 as far back as I can remember. 1

Must admit I love statistics and info like this. Great work you and the team do on keeping the site at a good quality level and also evolving it. I know we don't have the info but I suspect that we also have an older user pool compared to more socially focused Forums or Forums with a wider set of areas they cover, and as I found out a few years ago - my prescription hadn't changed my eyes had just gotten older and less able to do certain things. I currently use 2x 32" screens at work and (don't judge me) 2x 43" screens at home - and I find this is so much easier for web usage than using my phone. I also type better on a keyboard (with my Homer Simpson esque fingers) than I can on a smartphone. I use my phone banking app a lot but some of the stuff I prefer to do on the web banking equivalent - and for me this will always be the way with Stereonet also. But an App would be great. That said I added the webpage as a shortcut onto my iPhone and it has done everything I've asked of it so far. The app would make it easier to respond to posts (either using an emoji or typing in a quick reply) but I will always prefer the real estate of a large screen for Stereonet to the convenience of my phone. Anyway I appear to be rambling .... maybe time for a nap Edited January 11, 2024 by purpleninja 2
