I think the chair is more timeless :D

Cheers

Yes, it is rather nice. As long as my ears were above the wings of the headrest i reckon that would do me very well indeed.

Excellent point. Here we have a very high end demo room and if your ears are below the top of that headrest, which would be normal, it will pretty much ruin the experience.

Phase Linear 400 from the famous Bob Carver.

How does it sound?

Like absolute cr*p, Shane! :P  (Unless you like the sound of dentist drills. ;) )

What is this? I love it. Looks like something dr franenstein would have. Igor would shamble over and flick the power on. Who cares what it sounds like - it would look very cool.

And if we take that shot as any indication only one person can hear them properly.

I couldn't sleep with one of those in the house.

The rack mount valve amps are made by Line Magnetic.  I don't think they are exact clones of Western Electric Theatre amps, but they are made to look like them.  More here:

I think they look fantastic.

Yeah, I agree.  There's probably a degree of bling and artifice there, but that seems to be par for the course these days.  This gear certainly looks intriguing and tempts me to look into it further.

You may be right, but I'm not too sure about the bling and artifice.  Line Magnetic take their Western Electric worship very seriously.

Check out the 22A horn and 555 field coil compression driver replicas on this page:

It wouldn't surprise me at all if everything in that amplifier rack were functional.
